Topic: The best Led Zeppelin opener! Posted: August 05 2011 at 02:25 |
The Song Remains the Same and my second answer is Immigrant Song because of the screams in the beginning which makes the song great opener.

"Good Times, Bad Times" is just too good for a first track on a debut album not to vote for. Bonham's footwork on the song is also heavily influencing this decision.

Immigrant Song is just too epic... Achilles Last Stand is the close second.

I have to say that "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll" are the best one-two punch opener on any rock album. I recall hearing them for the first time and thinking, "Damn, now that's the way to start off an album!"

Custard Pie - great riff, brilliant drumming and naughty lyrics.

Wasn't "Since I've been Loving You" in that album too? I find it much better than Immigrant Song (though I like it too). However, I remember liking III quiet a bit, many good songs in it. |
Hear, hear I'm gonna say Good Times,Bad Times though barely a song, they almost never played it live (if ever, in its entirety) old thread

Hm, is it, 'which opening song is the best', or 'which song is best as an opener'? I thought at first that it was 'which song is best as an opener', so I voted for The Song Remains The Same. If I'm expecting a good day, I may want that to be my opener for when I wake up! Immigrant song is a great opener too. But the best song out of all of these I think is Achilles Last Stand.

Never a big Zep fan. I prefer the closer...CODA. I couldn't vote...there was no choice for me.

I had to go with "Good Times ..." It's the perfect introduction to Bonham, plus:
In the Evening would be my second choice.

Achilles Last Stand all the way. One of my very favourite Zeppellin songs.
