^ Those two samples sound like New Wave.
Mircea Florian is one of the most particular Romanian musicians. His artistic ideas overpass the music field, inscribing themselves in phenomena like the “performance”, happenings or other avantguard movements. Starting as a folk musician, having even a few “well-behaved” songs, Florian starts little by little to draw further from the standard forms of expression. At the beginning this distance appears at lyric level, then the approach changes, in the end recording a clear break from what could be called conventional. With a passion for experimental music and constantly attracted by the noncomformist sphere, M. F. ends up totally displaying his point of view only within the Florian din Transilvania project.
Musician and multimedia artist Mircea Florian started his musical career as a folk singer, in the late 1960s. Soon, he developed a fusion between Romanian folklore and Eastern music, adding some Indian flavor on the recordings with the use of sitar (played by Ljubisa Ristic) and tabla played by Arif Djafri. Although psychedelic music was not well seen in ’70s Romania, M.F. (guitar, cobză, vocals etc.) - with several guest musicians - realized some remarkable recordings of psych-folk music. In the 80s, he began experimenting with electronics and started playing new wave music, with his band Florian din Transilvania. |

Here's one from Romania that doesn't seem to be on the Archives: Florian din Transilvania
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8xbjWAg-dM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVr06A5Arqo unlike other artists, there seems to be an extensive Wikipedia page on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mircea_Florian_(musician) |

Yeah, unique letters. Interesting thing about linguistic stuff - you have so many exception of standart a-b-c-d-e-f-g-h ...
Anyway, getting all Polish Prog bands here would probably be much more difficult, than all Czech bands. And by all I mean most (all will probably be never possible). Poland is quite a big country. |

Ah,size doesn't matter. I have been in Slovenia only once, but I was duly impressed. The country is the size of New Jersey, but there is no lack of most beautiful things - the majestic Alps with Triglav, the incredible Postojna Jama, and a stretch of Adriatic coast with the prettiest city called Piran --- Maybe, the Slovenian people are just too happy (you know, this stereotypical "sunny disposition") to do a lot of prog rock Edited by Argonaught - February 18 2013 at 06:00 |

it's Reportaż, with the polish ż not the czech ž . I can care about polish bands. I need however to stay updated . But this shouldn't be a problem as I dig polish stuff for my playlists on iskc rock radio station (my show is every monday except the last of the month from 18:00 to 24:00 CET, see the prog radio section of PA for the link / I post my playlist 1 hour before the show). |

3 years has passed and now 10 more bands are on PA now. I think that the mission of adding Czech Prog is so far successful. |

Hi, everyone! I am latecoming to this topic... Cheers for this!
Regarding the music that was made during the period of existence of SFR Yugoslavia (60's to late 80's) I have already included many cornerstones of progressive rock and related styles here: http://www.progarchives.com/Bands-country.asp?country=203 Surely, there are always some obscure names to be potentially added and I will post here info when I find it. Enjoy! |

Snobb, I would like to thank you for adding Plastic People's new album. You even managed to get šžřřýžá characters right. The only thing I would like to ask you would be to have only first letters of song names should be Capital letters. It's not exactly the site's policy, but it's Czech record and there is convention to write it this way. Just request, nothing more. Example: A2 Půlnoční Mys /Midnight Mouse/ 4:39 would be A2 Půlnoční myš / Midnight Mouse (4:39) Midnight Mouse stands, it's foreign name and shouldn't be altered. But Půlnoční has capital P only because it's start of "sentence, song name, these things". myš then has little m. I noticed that progress of adding Polish bands isn't so fast, only from time to time. They don'T have a caretaker like myself ? |

I don't mind, don't worry. And I suppose that others won't mind as well (but can't speak for them). Don't forget to note us about it. I hope that it will be in English, so we can read it (hehe).
That's actually a good idea. You'll write thread there and I will take care about the rest of things as far as I can in team's thread in collaborator's zone (section of forums where voting takes place). I'll speak for them there, OK ? |

Thanks Marty! Some groups on the list are familiar, especially Er.G.Orchestra, 'cos my father used to play on violin there. In 2006 they warmed up the public before the Manfred Mann's show in Kyiv. I'm intended to write a cycle of articles about Eastern European prog on my blog. I'll use some info from this part of forum if You don't mind ? |
|||
You can follow my blog here prog-n-post The blog is in russian but still you're able to download prog rock music free there ;)

Stehlík, Marno, Švehlík are my next target. I also have to check suggestions by Milan, his few months old ones, I own it to him.
To let you know about my thoughts and plans, I'll "write down" my mind here. Please, discuss these bands here, as I'm not posting them in Suggest New Bands section, but rather taking them directly into Collaborators Zone team threads, watching them carefully and reminding teams about their existence. I'm thinking about: At the moment, I'm however busy with listening Crossover suggestions. Check first column in this link http://progfreak.com/home/progarchives.xhtml?path=crossover_prog/nw I'm man of many projects and sometimes, I forgot things. It happens. |
