Topic: New bands on Vinyls Posted: January 29 2010 at 13:38 |
I always buy the vinyl version of a new album if one is available, latest purchases in 2009 - Saxon, Lily Allen, Steve Wilson, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Stereophonics, Muse and Them Crooked Vultures.
I Rarely buy CD's, after 2 or 3 years they are worth little over 1 penny, while the vinyls are worth 30+ GBP..and downloads have no used commercial value at all.

Unless I can get a CD for a significantly lower price I usually go for the vinyl.

I tend to buy vinyls if they are rare vinyl only or in some other way different from the cd version, but mostly cds. A good idea would be to mainly have it as cd and have some kinda pre-order limited edition vinyl or some limited special edition.

I buy everything on CD, occasionally Super Audio or DVD A (never download), but I might consider some stuff on vinyl. My dad found a box of old LPs under the house, so I have considered buying a turntable somewhere, and cranking them up.

Your absolutely right on sound being a big factor, vinyls do sound better than cd's IMO

Cool, I have to agree that holding a phtysical LP in your hands of say an album like Tarkus, sure beats the CD. So artwork is the key then thanks

I'm the same as Mr. Prog Freak on this one. Like the album in my signature; I bought it on vinyl, because you can't appreciate the art in the size its in on a Jewel case, its simply to busy to be made that small.
Also, the supersize booklet is beautiful to read through.

I would - but only if it has really nice cover art. Today I buy most music as MP3, but if I see a nice vinyl I might get that too. For example, last year I got the Decemberists album.
