Topic: Looking for a very Specific Sound Posted: January 31 2009 at 18:12 |
Hey! So, I don't know if anyone like this exists, but I've been trying to find a band that meets a very certain criteria, and haven't had much luck. I'm trying to find an artist/band that is melodic, yet VERY dark (easily pretentious in such sound) that clearly has metal influence, but is not metal, and is very polished. Perhaps Radiohead/Late King Crimson/Massive Attack inspired.I'm also a fan of sonic experimentation, but used in a more of a solid context then in drone or ambient music. (A particular plus would be if the lyrics would be more classic poetry-esque then standard song lyrics) Ever since I heard "Darkness" by Peter Gabriel, I've been searching for something that may be perhaps a bit more technical but is in the same vein as the maniacal section of that song. I'm not a fan of screaming, and would like the band to have it's music have a lot of peeks and valley's too it, isn't straight the entire way threw.
I don't know if what I'm looking for is impossible to find, but since this place has the largest gathering of incredibly diverse members, I thought this would be the best place to ask.
Thanks!!
~Chris.
