No, probally gonna do some site seeing in Toronto being it's my first time there. My wife and two friends are also going , and only Dave is a huge rush fan. My other friend Adam is just a casual fan. (I just got him into them at the beginning of this last summer) and same for my wife (although she's been exposed for a bit longer than Adam).

Anyway I went with Apostrophe(') Mainly because I couldn't find The Grand Wazoo anywhere except for online. I'm gonna give it a listen on the way up to Toronto in a couple hours. Big%20smile

Ah, another Ohio-based Zappa fan!  Clap

There are so many sides to Zappa's music that I'd say give the broad collection of tunes included on "Strictly Commercial" a listen to get an idea of where to go next with Frank.  I never recommend hits packages but in this case I think it might be the best way to go if you aren't familiar with his work.  You sure won't get it from the radio!

As others have sugested bearing in mind for your love of Hot Rats and that being mainly intrumental Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo would be good choices but personally I would go for One Size Fits All and Overnite Sensation next which I much preffer.

If you like the jazzy tunes by all means go for Grand Wazoo ... if you prefer the crazy Avant-Garde bits then I'd recommend you get the package of Apostrophe and Over-Nite Sensation (one CD, contains two albums).

I second One Size Fits All.

But let's not forget some earlier stuff.  Perhaps try a Burnt Weenie Sandwich.

The double live CD The Best Band You've Never Heard In Your Life.  Great assortment of tunes spanning his career and some other stuff thrown in for good measure like Ring of Fire "ow ow ow".

One Size Fits All, Waka/Jawaka, Grand Wazoo and Roxy & Elsewhere will very likely float your boat.

I actually preferred Wazoo to the revered Hot Rats. It's way jazzier and has more of a "big band" scale. Even if you don't like that, it's extremely addictive, and has a crazy OOMPH.
