I had an old Austin Metro once, and I was amazed when someone stole it.
The insurance had just lapsed so I didn't bother to report the theft to the police. |

First time I jumped into the passenger seat of a friends Merc SLK and I felt a pleasant, warming sensation in the seating department I turned to the driver and asked "Do you have heated seats?" She nodded. "Are they on now?" She nodded again. "Thank f

We have a plethora of jokes to the detriment of Skoda's reputation:
eg - Why do Skoda's have heated rear windows? To keep your hands warm when you're pushing it. How do you double the value of a Skoda? Put a gallon of petrol in it. etc Edited by Jim Garten - August 23 2007 at 12:31 |

My brother had a gutless Skoda that caught fire when idling in the driveway. The owner's manual said it was a "four door saloon " as well -- talk about encouraging drinking and driving!
![]() ![]()
The wor$t car I ever owned was a used Audi Quattro -- talk about expen$ive part$ (and it ALWAYS needed new parts)! I think German car parts are made of solid platinum!
The heated seats were nice, though -- warm buns on a frosty morning make for a good start to the day, eh wot? ![]() Edited by Peter - August 23 2007 at 12:28 |

I actually owned a Yugo 45 for a few months about 15 years ago - I remember it needed a push start most mornings (even in good weather) and barely accelerated at all once you hit 40 mph (though it would eventually reach 70 - I never dared to try driving it any faster than that, so it may have been capable of more). On the plus side, it was very cheap.
There's a film called Mona Drowning - or possibly Drowning Mona - in which the Yugo has a significant role, alongside Danny De Vito, Bette Middler and Jamie Lee Curtis. I also saw photos of an art exhibition where American students created artworks using Yugos - one was turned into a giant Zippo lighter, and another (appropriately) was fitted with a toilet.
The Yugo - what a heap of sh*te!

Wow, my uncle used to have a Trabant in early 1970s and drive me around. It was fun.
Anyway, I never had a car, never drove one and never passed the driving test!
![]() I am a happy pedestrian, although often frustrated by the heavy metal environment... [/QUOTE]
![]() I dont have a car either, but I have a driving license. Question : Can I still drive ?
![]() In Budapest pedestrians and cyclists don't get much respect, so I wouldn't call myself happy pedestrian or cyclist here. I'm not that keen on dangerous extreme sports.
