Bio:
"Automata was born in Santiago-Chile in the year 2000 formed by Alfredo Smith (Drums), Iñaki Varela (Guitar, also in Exsimio), Sebastián Lekanda (Guitar, also in Bella e Putana) and Luciano Gómez (Bass Guitar, also in Alambique Veloz). After a couple of live shows and a demo recording that was never released, Gómez leaves the band. <>

After a long and unsuccessful search for a bass player, the band decided to explore the "electronics" world. This allow them to write the bass lines, opening possibilities for the aplication of new musical resources into their work.

After a long period of composing and adapting to their new condition, Automata started performing some live shows in 2003. In August 2004, the band began the recording of Mecanica (their first album) which was finally released in September 2005. This was accomplished independently with the kind support of Estudios L.S.E and Bolchevique Records.

The music of Automata may be labelled as Instrumental Progressive Metal with influences of bands like King Crimson, Rush, Tool and Meshuggah, among many others.

Automata's debut album has been distributed in several countries and although it has been around for only a few months, it has already impressed critics and the audience in general. Automata has already gained recognition, occupying an important and privileged spot in the world of music."
