Topic: xbox 360 Posted: May 06 2006 at 11:35 |
It's nice to see that someone else is using a computer in the living room ... I know that I'm one of VERY FEW people who do this, at least in Germany.
But this will become a very common thing in the next few years ... even this year the first PC graphics cards which support HDMI will be released, so you can play HD-DVD content on the computer. You'll be able to do everything with just one system - Games, TV, Video, Audio, Communication.

Like the esteemed enRegalia, I'm writing this on a PC in the living room (VGA out to a DLP HDTV) and I haven't turned on either my PS2 or Xbox in months. The two games I wanted the 360 for ended up coming out on PC anyway (Oblivion and Condemned) and honestly the upcoming lineup doesn't make me regret not having a 360. The resolution and performance is better, especially after tweaking (and I ain't talking about meth ). Right now the only drawback to my living room PC is that I can't find a decent wireless solution...the keyboards are no problem but I have yet to find a decent wireless mouse; I'm using a wired trackball on the sofa armrest.

Actually, I think the 360 controller is perfect. I haven't played the PS2 in a long while, but I found the controller to be too small.

Like I have said in my Video and PC Game thread,I dislike sitting at the computer and playing games.
I love console gaming, nothing compares to kicking back in the easy chair and playing on my widescreen plasma tv.

lol ... I am doing just that. My PC is in my livingroom, connected to the TV (32" 1360x768 (16:9)), and I'm sitting in a comfy chair. Actually - even while I'm typing this.

I completely agree. However, since you could connect to a TV without much problem, it's all about the choice of games, I'm afraid!

I am satisfied with my PS2 myself, although the only reason for that is a lack of money and satisfaction with the chosen few games I play frequently and that never get old.

At the moment I have my PC, Xbox and Gamecube for gaming and I must say the Xbox has been the machine I use the least. The original Xbox crown jewel was Halo which also came out on the PC anyway.
My PC also has Half-life 2 and loads of other decent FPS + RPGs like Oblivion and Fable. Which is why I won't bother getting a 360 plus the games are close to 50 pounds in the UK. Way too expensive.... IMHO.
My Gamecube has the most original and exclusive titles for console gamming so I may get there new console, plus the controller looks like fun.
We will see I suppose, why rush, all these consoles will price drop big time by the end of the year.

well i always buy both consoles, and yes i have a Xbox 360, i really like it, specially Madden. i cant wait for madden 2007, and for the PS3 too...
The only problem i have with the PS3 is that a lot of people are saying that the console will be so powerful that even wiith the best HD screen you will not be able too see all the features of the console.. i mean it will be more tech advanced than the HD screens or TVīs of the time....
anyway i love PlayStation and il buy it anyway

I'm getting suspicious of that. Killzone 1 was laughable overhyped and not a peep has been heard of Killzone 2 since last E3. Hopefully this one will bring good things. Also, the price of the PS3, which has been estimated modestly at over $500, is still an enormous question. |
What was the launch price of PS and PS2 in the US? here we've heard Ģ300, witch is the same as the previous 2 machines. I thought KZ was a really good game, though its controle system left a little to be desired. As for hearing nothing from KZ2 since E3, well its going to be like that with a lot of the PS3 launch games as theres still 5 months before the machine comes out. |
I think the price of past systems is irrelevent, especially when the 360 cost at most $400, and there are rumors of a price drop already to combat the PS3 launch (though I doubt those are true). The Wii (formerly Nitendo Revolution) is going to be a big hit for loyal gamers and will have many niche games. Also it is rumored to be very cheap, less than the 360 Core price of $300. These compound the trouble the PS3 will have if it doesn't lower it's price. Consider too hat the 360 had (much like the PS2) an early start, with many great games out and more on the way. The PS3 won't flounder, surely, but unles the graphics end up being much better than the 360's, it will not win the battle.
