We used to see Head East all the time at University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, along with Starcastle, REO (not prog) and many more! 1973-77, it was a great time for music!

^I didn't mention Shadowfax because it doesn't seem like the sound you're after. Great band.

The Midwest really was the region in America that had the most prog. It seems a bit surprising, but since I'm from here I'll take it! I wonder what cultural factors lead to it's rise and fall.
Anyway, this is more prog related but Head East is from my neck of the woods so I'll give them a shout out. |

If you're into that old-school keyboard-based symphonic sound from the 1970s featuring soaring vocals, you're going to love Atlantis Philharmonic. This band—actually a duo plus additional musicians—was founded in Cleveland back in 1971 and is all about those huge amounts of organs, Mellotrons, and harpsichords, with some electric guitar bursts thrown here and there. It's like the perfect combo for all nostalgic fans of the ELP-like '70s symphonic rock. Atlantis Philharmonic dropped their first, a self-titled album, in 1974. Their second album was released only in 2008. |

Lunar Chateau was a Wisconsin trio. Novak, Paul, and Milo Sekulovich, brothers, formed the band in 1992, marking the beginning of their story. 1994 saw the release of their self-titled debut. Lunar Chateau signed with Musea Records that same year. An album of beautiful prog rock with refined tunes that often stretches in a spacey atmosphere was then distributed in Europe by that well-known prog label. Only in 2001 was their second and last album, "Beyond the Reach of Dreams," released.

October -same '79 Michigan
MacArthur - I '79 Michigan This Oneness '75 Minneapolis fusion ......... Back to William S. Fischer "Circles"...Like I said I'm not familiar with this. From your description it is fusion. The one I know is 1972, W.D. Fisher - same (Quebec City). It is popsike/hard ,early prog with some fine organ. There is a long clip of the track, "William D. Fisher's Adventures" on youtube. The group released only the single lp. |

Although the guitar, both electric and acoustic, is his primary instrument, Cleveland's ex-Emeralds guitarist Mark McGuire adds synths and loop pedals to his guitar sound to create an amazing far-out experience. He has put out a number of albums. I would want to focus on his work from the early 2010s, when McGuire heavily references the Kosmische Musik icon, Manuel Göttsching. Check out this nearly 20-minute tune from his 2011 album Get Lost if you enjoy progressive electronic music featuring guitar. Here is also a live performance video of McGuire's Paris show.

This curio could use a limited CD or CDr reissue of 500 copies. The "paint buckets" drum sound and relentless drumming in "I" may be off-putting for some. "I" is more rock, "II" is more jazz.
