Out of these, Meshuggah - Nothing for me. Unlike most of the posters here, I can't get into In Absentia much. It's a decent album for me, but not my favorite Porcupine Tree album.

It seems like a clear win for 'In Absentia'. Given the variety of bands and albums here, I was hoping that they might have some harder competition; not that I am unhappy with the results, just surprised.

In Absentia, the first album where PT goes heavy. Love Vapor Trails as well, both of those have huge nostalgia factors with me.
And I would also mention NEBELNEST's Nova Express. Awesome record.

It's a great album indeed, my kind of black metal. Tongue

Yes nice to see Agalloch in this poll, it's a great album indeed and also one of my favorites here. Going to play it today Thumbs Up

My personal top pick would be Meshuggah's Nothing, probably their best album to me!

Couldn't agree more, one of the really great years for progressive bands, and this poll takes a look at heavy bands exclusively. There is a lot of great stuff going on in the "lighter" sub-genres, too.

Porcupine Tree > Rush (I've always loved Vapor Trails)

Would have voted for Porcupine Tree, but IMHO it's not exactly "heavy prog". They're quite heavy at times, but much less so than most other bands in the poll.

Remedy Lane here...

Vanden Plas would probably get the runner up spot?
