It was fun to see Osanna's Landscape of Life as the most popular album for several days. I would imagine that's the most attention the album has EVER received

same album in the "most popular album last 24 h" for close to two weeks.
Could be right or the glitch is back again. But I for one do not know.

So here is the scoop. An album was added to an extremely popular artist. The album was just a remaster with no additional material and therefore not eligible for a new entry. The album went to a temporary repository where it existed without and artist to link to. That is why we were seeing it as a dead link. The problem with the "Most Popular Album Last 24 hour" feature is that it is self-perpetuating. It's the largest cover on the front page so it generates even more clicks. Including, I would imagine, more bot clicks. Even the dead link will generate bot clicks.
The album has now been deleted. There is no more MPAL24 cover or dead link on the front page. So once a different album has a higher number of views than the now deleted album, we should see a new cover up front. Edit: I see it's already happened. We are back to buon vecchio Dream Theater. There is a perfectly logical explanation for this. Update to follow.

^ I thought there was something wrong with my internet, page not loading right or something because there was no cover there.
So it's the same for everyone.

MOST POPULAR ALBUM (last 24h) weirdness is back
for the last 4-5 days, it's an Ayreon EP. I don't know what's so fascinating about that EP.

I use Avast and when I click on the most popular album, they say it's infected with "URL:Phishing". I don't even know what that is TBH.

If it was irrelevant I wouldn't ask. Which anti-virus and what is the message you are receiving? Please.

Which anti-virus are you using?
The problem with that is there are already reviews for that album that would disappear with the album.

I'd be tempted to remove it from the site and re-add it it so it gets a different album number and see if that throws the bot off.

Sounds like the site owner needs to look into blocking specific bots. Obviously you would want the search engine crawlers to continue to access the site, but a targeted one on a specific album sounds like somebody has too much time on their hands.
