Just reaffirmed my vote while listening to Lodger earlier on today. What a great and underappreciated gem of an album! I love all tracks with no exception and it only gets better after Red Sails.

Lots of great bands there.
I'll go with Styx primarily based on the strength of The Grand Illusion.

Since LZ are ahead, I gave another vote for Vangelis.

Oh blast I've already voted. The site's just reminded me. Will someone go and tick Rainbow's circle.
Go play Catch The Rainbow - a concert version... |

Amazing. Rainbow do not have vote? So much good stuff here. Led Zep. Bowie, BOC, Sabbath and Queen - the start of the list is so good.
Go and play Stargazer... |

yeah, there's about 6 of these that I hold in equally high regard. So I voted for Buckethead because it was BS that he had no votes.

Almost half of the bands on the list are among my all-time favourites. Having to choose only one, i went for the mighty BOC (surprise, surprise!).

Strangely enough I voted Malmsteen for his impact on heavy metal guitar which took us out of Eddie VH's iron grip and into an era that still echoes loudly today. No one yet since has had a bigger influence on the style and sound of metal guitar.

There is a big difference between homage/riff borrowing and outright note-for-note, word-for-word theivery. There is only so much you can do with 1/4/5, but they didn't even bother with a thesaurus. |

This is kind on unfair. how can possibly someone choose only one band? In my opinion you should have given us the opportunity to vote for at least 3 bands from the list. That way it would be easier, funnier and fair enough.
I am not going to vote, because I simply can't choose only one band. But if I had multiple votes, I could vote for: Black Sabbath, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. |
