I`ve been having a pleasuring time within the music of `80`s neo-prog bands. what an absolute joy

yes the neo-progressive `80`s bands are a wonderous addiction to all the earlier prog rock bands. there where many that where not all going to breaking into the major arena stages. but the few would become on to for fill my listening to pleasure. so its the bands like Pallas/Pendragon/Marillion/Twelfth Nigth and IQ...

The IQ gig at Bury is sold out now Rob. See you there.
Let's hope they play Constellations, my favourite track off TROB by a mile. It's a good album but a combo of tracks from the 2 discs would make a better album. |
Yeah, Constellations is my favorite right now as well, but I still need to give both disks a few more plays to really absorb it all. In any case, I like the whole thing quite a bit.
|
Sadly, they didn't.
But it was a great gig!

I haven't liked Arena much outside of 'The Visitor'. Pendragon had an amazing run early on, discounting Kowtow.

^ it's a headache to choose. All are so great and have their own unique character about them.
IQ are the consistent NEO Prog act I've ever come across. Arena is a very close second.

I just officially named IQ's The Road Of Bones as my #1 album for 2014. It was a bit of a dogfight of a choice between a couple of other records I loved But this one officially reigns supreme. Amazing album. Can't believe they topped Frequency for me.

I was at the Bury gig as well ! Vinyl eh .... do you lot still try and tell the time by the sun-dial in your garden! I think that the annoying clicks and hisses of damaged vinyl was what digital CD did brilliantly to eradicate....and don't get me on all that richness of sound bollocks - sound is sound to the average human ear and those that try to tell you differently are just adjusting the perception in their heads to prove their bias to themselves....I have been enjoying rich sounds from CD's through headphones for 20 years...and because I don't keep on telling myself it sounds flat...miraculously it DOESN'T.....

The stuff from the new album came across well and I enjoyed the epic much more than I do on the album. They played all of disc one but nothing from the "bonus" disc. I didn't expect to hear anything off that so was not disappointed. It really was a killer setlist. They also played The Darkest Hour, Frequency, The Wake, Leap of Faith, Subterranea, The Seventh House and Widow's Peak. The Seventh House is my favourite IQ track and Leap of Faith is in my top 5 so I was very happy with that.
A thoroughly enjoyable night's entertainment, and more good news they have also booked another date at the same venue next September!

I was there too and I echo these sentiments entirely. My first visit to the Met and it's a superb, intimate venue with great sound. The band were in stunning form.
Shame I didn't know you were there - I would have bought you a pint!
Just received The Road of Bones on triple vinyl, so I'm experiencing an eargasm as I write. Good on CD, far, far better on vinyl.

well its been a little funnies of the unnatural none PROG people, with there negative statements about the music and the musicians. this one person was so upper headless a*** banging on about IQ being limited and boring. the worst point was they aren't PROG!. arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! there are only downward downside is always there pastime of pointing out there own lack of there limited out look on another topic there unable to for filling there ears with there closed ears... I`ve been totally losing myself in SH/DM/SUB filling absolutely soaking up the amazing music and finding the inner peace wow we cool as cool can be...
