I can mostly think of Pink Floyd and Yes. From Pink Floyd, things like Remember a Day, Julia Dream, Mudmen, The Hero's Return (parts 1 AND 2). From Yes, things like Harold Land, Run Through the Light, Holy Lamb, Shock to the System, The More we Live Let Go, Be the One.

- Gong - Zero The Hero And The Witch's Spell (Flying Teapot) Caravan - As I Feel I Die (If I could do it all over again, I'd do it all over you) VdGG - Whatever Would Robert Have Said (Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other) Magma - Ki Ïahl Ö Lïahk (1001° Centigrades) Renaissance - The Vultures Fly High (Scheherazade And Other Stories) while I do have some issues with the title track, this other story is a perfect little ditty. Peter Hammill - The Lie (Bernini's Saint Theresa) (The Silent Corner And The Empty Stage) Comus - The Bite (First Utterance) Jethro Tull - For a Thousand Mothers (Stand Up) -just awesome energy and drive The Mothers of Invention - Invocation and Ritual Dance of the Young Pumpkin (Absolutely Free) Gentle Giant - An Inmates Lullaby (In a Glass House) -it represents a certain kind of playfulness in sound I miss from them after Phil left. -agree with the already mentioned: A Pillow of Winds (& Summer '68, really) and White Mountain Edited by Saperlipopette! - October 07 2023 at 07:31 |

Floyd - Honestly, Shine on You Crazy Diamond 6-9 feels like a deep cut from Wish You Were Here, The Wall has many great deep cuts, I'm going to go with Waiting for the Worms or The Trial
GG - Not Sure how much of a deep cut, but I Love the song Dog's Life Genesis - Most of the Stuff off of TLLDOB, but I really like 'Anyways' How about Mike Oldfield's Platinum Suite, Part 3 Charleston, freakin love that song. Yes - Wondrous Stories, To Be Over, Mood for a Day, Time and a Word off the top of my head

The Wheel of Time Turns, and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the shadow.
Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time... |

I Love Time and a Word, (The Song) of Yes's shorter songs (under 5min) it's probably my second favorite

Argent - n/a Genesis - it's ok but the Knife is heads and shoulders above the rest Alpha T - n/a Tilt - n/a Earth Band - I don't know that particular album well enough Floyd - I feel the band are trying to pull off some comedic element on this one and it comes off forced - not a favorite. Nektar - I agree it's underrated GG - that whole album is consistent but probably seeded no. 5 on my list (testament to the band really!) UK - I think it's rated properly and I'm glad it is! Yes - that album is a mixed bag but Prophet doesn't move me in the slightest tbh (sorry ((

I wanna know what are you guys' favorite deep cuts/dark horses off famous prog staples. Or just underrated tracks that don't get enough love. They don't necessarily have to be top 100 on PA or anything, but just off relatively known albums. Ill start with a list of about 10 favorites:
These are just a few of my favorites, and I really think these songs should get more love. Some of em (Summer '68, The Face, Alaska) are a little more surface level but still criminally underrated. What are you guys' thoughts? |
