Procession - Frontiera Very nice progressivo Italiano. The lack of keyboards scared me a bit at first, but, make no mistake, this album is great - sort of similar to RRR, but edgier, heavier.

This Heat - This Heat Love this album. There is a strong krautrocky vibe here, but enriched with Western Culture-esque Henry Cow flavors. Stunning!

Dedalus - Dedalus If we could debate whether Arti + Mestieri are RPI, this is full-blown fusion! And a really good take on the genre! The jams are incredibly tasty, varied, and well-though.
Categories strain, crack and sometimes break, under their burden - step out of the space provided.

Yesterday:

Area - Caution Radiation Area What is it that people don't dig about this album? I absolutely love it - I think it's right up there with Arbeit Macht Frei (haven't listened to Crac! yet, so can't tell about that one). I think it's a really creative take on avant-jazz-prog-fusion Italiano. So well composed, played, and recorded!

Continuum - Autumn Grass One of the thousands of English bands that put out their few albums around 1971. This one is really good, though, and it has a very interesting sound. It's jazz, but with very interesting twists - sometimes very English, liturgical, sometimes folky, sometimes avant. Nice!

Metamorfossi - Inferno I like this album, I really do. It's not a complete stand-out, but it has a great sound of its own and as I've said a few weeks ago - it's really all in the keyboards and vocals here! The pieces are also good, a great example of a motif and variation.

Art Zoyd - Symphonie Pour Le Jour Ou Bruleront Les Cites Loooooooooove this album so much! This one was the original 1976 one - much rawer in production, less pleasant to listen to, but the composition remains the same - out of this world. Man, I will review this album soon, when I find some time.

Today:

Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno - Per... Un Mondo Di Cristallo I've caught that flame!!! This is amazing music! On its own, it stands very well. Among other RPI classics - it still holds pretty strong. The RRR guys have a really polished sound here. Somewhere between Van Der Graaf Generator, Balletto, King Crimson, Osanna, and Genesis, yet sounding nothing like the mentioned!

Samla Mammas Manna - Samla Mammas Manna This is an old-time favorite of mine. Being on a double kick recently (RPI and RIO), I needed to recall this album. The feel is really so great! It has a bit of the Canterbury styling, but the sense of humor is much different - a bit childish (in a good way), a bit drunk, exaggurated. Loads of great keyboards here!

Pekka Airaksinen - One Point Music Pekka Airaksinen is a very obscure musician from Finland, mainly connected with the band Sperm, a bit better known. His music is ambient, very ambient, in fact, but very fulfilling and satisfying. And the cover makes the whole trip so much evocative!

Nice listening, in my opinion.Big smile

Yeah, regarding Huntsville, I noticed you guys haven't voted on them yet. Just as well perhaps, I've been thinking we should perhaps have a crack at them in post rock first, as we've just cleared a band not too dissimilar sounding.
Good to know. I've been very busy as well lately, although I always find time for music somehow Smile

See what you think about them, then. We have just so many artists in our charts, we didn't look into them Embarrassed

Yesterday:
Il Rovescio Della Medaglia - Contaminazione Love this album by bits. It has some cheesy-sounding moments, but it would still get high four stars from me, the quality of music is excellent.

Art Zoyd - Haxan Very nice. It's not the kind of Art Zoyd I like, the industrial-esque RIO sound is yet to grow on me, but the music is very well composed, thought, and performed. They really take you on a trip with this one.

I have also been at a gig of the best and most famous Polish prog band, SBB. I got a chance to talk to the amazing keyboardist, Józef Skrzek, and talked a bit about some of the albums and how he creates music. Amazing experience! The concert was not great, not a disappointment, but the music was not very well composed, with an exception of some of their older tracks. Mainly jam-based. Enjoyable and fantastically performed, but, in a long run, some of it was pretty boring. The keyboards, though. I got to look at Skrzek's amazing original Minimoog. Smile

I have not heard them before but I'll check them out tomorrow. Thanks  Thumbs Up
