If someone was truly on the fence about LGBT rights, and they read this thread with the mindset it would be the deciding factor (which is pretty ridiculous), do you honestly think your conduct here would draw them to your side? Furthermore, you bring insult to your own marginalized group. As if, members of the LGBT community are weak as a whole and they need a golden crusader to defend them because they can't take care of themselves. You sicken me.

No, nothing against the OP as a person. He asked for it be closed because he saw it as beyond the point of no return; I was upset that it -were- at that state and tried at first to counteract that, and then resigned and thought that perhaps a better-directed OP could better lead discussion. Judging by his response, I believe he understands that.

So, I really do think a different, more mature thread, with some groundrules of decency should be established in lieu of this one. Perhaps the next thread could be authored by someone with a bit more understanding and reverence of LGBT issues so it can turn into something other than a hotbed of homophobic ha-has. The topic is still an important one, and it still bears discussion.

Have fun with your troll thread, I guess.

Do it up, yo.

But I think regardless of whoever authors a thread on this topic is going to be met with the same results.

It's always nice to know that somewhere on the internet, there's someone to make your arguments for you, so you can post the link in trivial forum discussions that mean completely nothing, not to mention are way off topic.

Bull f**king sh*t. Next thing you know, you'll be calling Rosie O'Donnell fat as well.

It's on topic cuz she's teh gay.

I think Triceratopsoil meant me, as I seem to be the only one defending Greg, atm...

I'm defending him for two reasons:

1.  I heard on PBS radio a big thing on the subject of fat jokes and how fat people hate that, so I thought that we can't
make fun of fat people anymore....

2. I love ELP & YES as my 2 hero bands, so I will defend them to the death, but not Chris Squire, who has obviously
taken his weight situation a bit too far. Confused

3. I believe in the humor of Monty Python, which says anything or topic is fair game to humor, so I am not serious in any of this, because if we can't laugh at ourselves, than we will be a bunch of uptight, stiff people. (kinda like The Brittish..)

Oops, now I've gone and done it....LOL

Dude,

We are talking about ELP - Love Beach seeming to be gay.  That is on topic, yes?

And don't forget Rule No.1 in all public forums.

A busy thread is a happy thread.Tongue

Ok, ok, I will share in your humor, but for consistency's sake, I gave Laz the "what for" and then some for
implying that one of my heroes is a a "fatty".

Scroll down to see my post, one which he never replied to as I think he never recovered from it, quite frankly. Wink

The real story I think is how much Greg Lake's voice has deteriorated.  It is sad and apparently is completely random
as it affects some and not other singers.  Obviously lifestyle can affect the voice, but most of it is luck.

Jon Anderson's voice is as precious as ever

John Wetton, despite his lifestyle his voice is basically 98% of what it was, which is amazing.

Greg is perhaps running on 50% which is a true loss, as he had one of the great voices of all time in rock
or any kind of music.

P.S.  You know you look kinda fat in your avatar.. by the way...

Oh you of the multistyled text and prolific emoticons that almost evoke memories of the late, great Peter Rideout. I know what you mean. You're here for the music. You don't give a damn what people do in the bedroom, and what the bloody hell does it have to do with prog? And if this doesn't describe you, it describes someone, dammit.

And to they, I say prog and really music in general is an abstraction for life and its many experiences and imaginations for many people. Prog, by its nature, is more exploratory (than mainstream radio singles), like a good yarn from a quirky storyteller, even without words. People who face oppression can find a lot to love in prog. LGBT folk are people with their own experiences, and their issues are rarely centered around the bedroom (though Lawrence Vs Texas was less than a decade ago). As long as ignorance and inequality exist, there will be oppression for LGBT people, and as long as there are so many humanist themes, messages of finding solace, strength, solidarity, facing difficult obstacles, as long as unique pictures are painted of people we haven't expected to be portrayed, there will continue to be a lot to love from we.

That Neal Morse picture is something I'm rather proud of. I'd been turning the logo idea over in my head, and one day, I simply couldn't resist myself. My boyfriend suggested adding the still shot from this Hell music video, and he picked out the face, too.

Hey man,

Is this the Peter Rideout you speak of?
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=924

I googled the name as well and I couldn't find much, but it seems to be a compliment, so I will take it as such.  Thank you.

As far as my  "multistyled text and prolific emoticons" they probably annoy at lot of people, but then I am what I am.
I was trodding through the would and then one day my brother said to me:  "Do you know that you are prone to hyperbole?"  And I stopped in my tracks, and then I realised that was what I was.  So why change?  I probably couldn't change if I wanted to.   Frank Zappa said, "You is what you is" and I believe that.

But either way, your post was very enlightening and you are obviously a very well spoken person.

Yes, I agree Prog is special and a provides a deeper level of musical enjoyment than most.  But you really put it more eloquently, so I won't belabor the point.

Cheers!

P.S.  And yeah, I am here for the music and I don't give a crap what others think, unless they speak poorly of
The Flower King's Chicken Farmer Song. Smile
