^^ Space Rock: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the ProgArchives Enterprise. Our five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds of prog. To seek out new artists and new albums. To boldly go where no prog fan has gone before! Smile

A belated shout out to Psychedelic Paul's review of Salamander - The Ten Commandments album!  Thumbs Up
Without hearing a note of it, I bought a CD of it based on his review (finally got here after 3 weeks or so) and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Had never heard of this band or album til this month.  Symphonic to my ears.

Thanks Psychedelic Paul!
Thanks Alfred E. Neuman. I'm glad you enjoyed Salamander's biblical Ten Commandments album as much as I did. You may be interested to know I just posted a new album review (my longest so far) for Man's first album this morning. I hope that album will prove to be a Revelation for you too. Smile

I did see Man's Revelation (wink wink nod nod Big smile) earlier and appears to be my next exploration as I have not heard of them either.  So many bands and albums I missed back in those 70s, still trying to catch up, but what a dilemma to have....

Couldn't help but notice your location. Have you by any chance seen my dear aunt Lavinia? She's gone missing.

Just saw this post.

Amazing album.  Wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

It has to be as good as VdGG's top albums to deserve it Tongue Curiously he gave Atom Heart Mother the full 5 stars despite not being sympathetic to "Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast".

I really like to read reviews with meticulous ratings because they justify it thoroughly but it puts me off writing reviews. I give 5 stars too easily I feel like I'm ruining their reviews LOL

^ I always love his reviews, always reads something something like this:

Song 1: Excellent song, no complaints. Rate 9+

Song 2: Even better then song 1, possibly the best ever made. Rate 10

Song 3: Personally cured me of all ills and bad feelings. Rate 9

In conclusion, I rate this album 9.5/10, rounding down to 2 stars

In his book, you really gotta earn that damn 5th star!LOL

Funny how subjective music appreciation is, for me "Il Banchetto" is the best song on "Per Un Amico".

^ I'm not a fan of the genre but I really enjoyed this album You can hear there was a lot of time and effort on those compositions and arrangements. It's so neatly produced too, not overcompressed nor flat. Even with low quality streaming it sounded great on my studio monitors.

^ Yeah, not enough ratings or reviews for an album with such high quality, i'm glad you managed to grasp on that Thumbs Up

I'm just finishing Circle of Illusions's album after reading Sagi's review. Seriously, how is this not a modern Prog classic? Shocked

for siLLy puPPy's review of the new Oranssi Pazuzu album - very evocative.

After Varahtelija and last year's Waste of Space Orchestra platter if they put out an album of Harry Belafonte covers I would probably buy it. Yet I didn't know this was out!

Lazland, I liked your review of Resistance. A majority of the reviews just come off as IQ yes-men who barely actually talk about the music and essentially just say "Album good." It was a fantastic read for me. Steve is a great reviewer and truly loves IQ, but as he said he doesn’t bow to anyone or anything for the sheer admiration of the band.
Personally I think he makes some terrific points.

Actually the review doesn't matter, but its author... Nice to see Bob (Easy Livin) is back in town!
He didn't visit the forum since 2014 though. Don't know whether he plans to show up here. Confused
Who are you and who am I to say we know the reason why... (D. Gilmour)
