I like Tunnel Blanket a lot, I'll probably rate it ****. Harcore is good but IMO just more of the same, like the new one from EITS is too. I like both of them but I'd rate them ***.
BTW I read your reviews and I have a problem with this phrase: "Much like their post-rock contemporaries This Will Destroy You, Mogwai dished out another excellent
2011 release that may be even better than the former." Mogwai are veterans, TWDY are newcomers, I see them as representing different ages of the post rock movement (even if right now they are, technically, contemporaries).

got June of 44's Tropics and Meridians on, anyone into this proto-math band? Pretty good stuff, heavy, dirty and fairly complex. The band was known as "the punk rock pirates of the mathrock world" and this CD is nicely packaged including a sheet of homemade postage stamps in a rice paper envelope, very cool.
I've only heard of them, but if you recommend them I'll put them up on my list of priorities.

OMG a thread about post rock/metal and math rock and I missed it!?
Not as endeavored with math rock but I love me some post rock and metal. GY!BE and This Will Destroy You are my 2 fav post rock bands, and of course the classics like Explosions in the Sky and Oceansize. I have one album by the band Maserati and it is one of the best things I've heard in a long time. Amazing stuff.
As for the metal side: Pelican, Isis, Cult of Luna are the tops : D
