The Phils can't win again, can't let Philly have another championship for at least 50 years or so

Yeah, but the Yanks didn't play too spectacularly overall either. Baseball varies wildly day to day, hoping game 2 goes better!

Lee and Utley basically won the game themselves. I feel much better with game one under our belts, but I doubt tomorrow will go as smoothly.
Speaking of tomorrow The Dear Hunter is coming tomorrow night. So instead of being excited for seeing one of my favorite bands I'm feeling very annoyed and praying for a rain delay. Casey will hear an earful from me before the show.

Lee was brilliant, but it was the tack on runs in the latter innings that really killed you, the 9th inning would have had such a different feel if it was 2-0.

Cliff Lee's coolness factor went up quite a few points for the pop-up he nonchalantly caught and the ball he caught behind his back.

I was tempted to run around yelling "F*ck the Phillies!" but I'm afraid I would be killed on the spot
Gotta hand it to him, Cliff Lee was damn amazing

Phillies win! Funny but one of the Toronto announcers who come on periodicaly throughout the game(we get the U.S. feed) says "Cliff Lee is to the Phillies what Geddy Lee is to RUSH" . Ah yes RUSH and baseball.

6-1 interesting way to start. I think the Phils have the better team.

He also couldn't lay off any pitch 10 feet above his waist or rolling in the dirt in the regular season. Doesn't seem to be true of him in the post-season though.

Due to the fact that Ryan Howard can't hit left handed pitching....Keith Olbermann went on the air last night and said that the Yankees will win the WS.

I can't help but think that hiring Mark McGwire as a hitting coach is a pretty dumb move. He might be able to teach patience for drawing walks, but all of his walks were more of a result of his steroid-induced power more than anything else. |
One of the local radio stations in StL had a former publisher/reporter from The Sporting News on to talk about this. He said that it was a good move due to McGwire's high OB percentage along with Slugging percentage but he agreed that McGwire did strike out a lot. He said that it would be good for McGwire to school the Cards younger players. I know that he can't school Pujols. If anything he could learn a bit from Albert.
