The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Zone, Still Life and Pawn Hearts are top, top albums, and none of these deserves to not be the best. I don't really get Godbluff despite this being the highest rated on PA.

I feel that the latter two contain some of the best rocking sections the band ever put down, and Peter Hammill keeps his voice more restrained, not distracting from his brilliant lyrics.

I don't think he really started with the screaming thing until Godbluff.

Uh yeah Pawn Hearts has a great deal of screaming, particularly on Plague. Not as much as Arrow or Childlike Faith perhaps, but it's definitely there (and fantastic).

Pawn Hearts -- it was one of those "where have you been all my life" album.
.
If Peter Hammill hadn't made it, and I had Peter Hammill talents, and I had been born in England during the 40's and I had made part of the VDGG group, I would had made exactly the same album. (what?)

Heard maybe 4 or 5,and the only one I like is Quiet Zone/Pleasure dome.

So I guess , that one is the best one of all time.

Either The Least We Can Do is Wave to Each Other, Pawn Hearts or Godbluff; it changes all the time in my case. Can't go wrong with any of the 3 though.

"Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes. Wolf nipple chips. Get 'em while they're hot. They're lovely. Dromedary pretzels, only half a denar."

It's debatable between Godbluff and Pawn Hearts, my choice is easily for Godbluff. Still Life comes close to those two as well. Nothing else in their discography comes close to that trilogy despite what some people *looks up* might say. If anything, World Record would probably be my fourth favorite. They never properly figured out their sound until PH, everything earlier just sounds dated and awkward now, albeit still quite good and occasionally exceptional.
