I'm with the majority

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

In the Court is actually my least favourite of the 1960s through 1970s albums anyway. King Crimson by a mile. Much more varied, interesting, and versatile band, I believe.
I used to be very big on Rush as a teenager, and still enjoy Caress of Steel as well as quite a bit of other Rush material (and I never turn off any Rush if it comes up on the radio, erm, well, unless I have company, a headache, can easily manipulate the radio frequencies while driving, have a non-radio music option, can safely reach the off button et cetera). King Crimson I discovered as a mature, make that immature, adult.

Specifying only '70's material, I would have to go with Rush. Throw in the rest and I might vote a different way.
You guys do realize that '70's should exclude ITCOTCK, right?

I figured this would happen for the 70's, but I see every decade since then being a lot closer.

Rush, easily.
I really like their 70s hard rock period as well as their later, more progressive era.
King Crimson do almost nothing for me.

I think 'In the Court" is my fave album out of all here but Hemispheres, Farewell and 2112 would be my next 3 Lark's Tongue is one of my faves as well
Hard to vote against Crimso but I have to go with Rush

This. Plus KC has so much more musical creativity and sheer talent than Rush.

Rush has the album track Xanadu and the albums Hemispheres and Caress of Steel, but KC has a handful of 4- and 5-star albums. So this time I choose to howl with the KC fanbase choir.

King Crimson. But it's not so easy to decide for me. I absolutely love Rush from 2112 onward (2112 was the first album from them I heard back in 1981 or so and it got me immediately). But in fact, KC music has more colours and sparks in itself (although technically Peart with Lee are unbeatable IMHO).
