The second Clog Prog Blog album and the Focus is on the first solo album from Jan Akkerman. Hineimatov (which roughly translates as "Behold how good and how pleasing for brothers (people) to sit together in unity." - Far out, man! Well, it was the hippyish late sixties. Thanks for posting that...I love those 'proto prog' bands that fall between the cracks back in the day...just when I think I have heard them all.....'someone else' turns me onto another one. |

^ If you think that's weird, you ought to hear the last song on the album.

Thanks to Someone Else for the alliterative new blog title. We're racing out of the starting gate now in a purple haze of smoke with the one and only spacey album from Ahora Mazda - the highest deity in Zoroastrianism, for anyone who wants to know. Okay, I finally found the 52nd Dutch prog artist I've been looking for - Jack Lancaster & Rick van der Linden (Symphonic Prog) - so I'm no longer one card short of a full deck, although some may disagree.

That's a challenge too far. Phrozenlight has so many albums that he deserves a YouTube channel all of his own, although he probably already has one. I won't be attempting a Buckethead challenge either. I was thinking of including Thijs Van Leer of Focus in the list, but his solo works are all classical music albums from what I've heard so far.

Come on, you've done Rick Wakeman. Look on Phrozenlight as your next challenge!

I just need one more artist suggestion now for my Classic Clog Prog Blog to make it a full deck of 52 artists.

On the subject of Tax Free, I'm guessing the only reason they're not on ProgArchives already is because no one's ever suggested them for inclusion. It's one of my all-time favourite albums, featuring the free-spirited Dutch singer Wally Tax, hence the bandname, Tax Free.

^ Thanks for the great suggestion. Machine's one-off Heavy Prog album really had me tapping my clogs along to the driving beat and I've now tagged Machine onto the end of my list. All being well, I should have my Clog Prog channel set up on YouTube sometime tomorrow, when I can begin by adding the one and only album by Ahora Mazda, which sounds more like a racy sports car than a band name.

Nice idea, this Clog Prog Blog. With Shocking Blue and Tax Free included, this blog goes a bit outside the borders of PA. To make it complete, let me introduce you to Machine, a band which released only one album (their previous moniker, Swinging Soul Machine, excluded), in 1970: a nice release. I tried to get this band included here (in Crossover or Eclectic), some 10 years ago, but they were rejected. Maybe they fit better in Heavy or Prog Related.
The 4th track, starting at 10:45, has the most beautiful intro ever (imho).

My apologies to anyone (especially Chopper) who's disappointed not to see Phrozenlight on the above list, but I don't have a year to spare to complete his humungous discography.

No problem. I also like the Dutch bands Ayreon, Delain, Epica & Within Temptation, but that would have made the list too long and unmanageable if I'd included modern Dutch prog too. I haven't heard any music by the other Dutch bands you mentioned - at least, not yet.

What? No Epica, Ayreon, The Gathering, Sky Architect, Life Line Project, Trion, or Knight Area?
