New Godspeed You! Black Emperor is not bad, but i must say i'm kinda disappointed, their weakest album to date. The 2 lengthy songs are descent, but the other 2 drony pieces are just.. pointless.

I'm not too much a fan of the standard 'post-rock' bands out there, but I have a love for Neurosis and Isis, Through Silver in Blood and Oceanic being my favourite albums respectively.
In terms of 'math' rock/metal, if you call Meshuggah math metal than I am a massive fan. Dillinger Escape Plan are pretty awesome too. |

New Mono is post-rock album of the year for me, one of the best post rock albums I've heard in the past few years. That music cannot be described into words. Accompanied by The Wordless Music Orchestra, music cannot get any better than that.

Thanks, I'll definitely take a look! And the aggressive vocals is something I really try to look past when listening. Some of my other favorites like Cult of Luna create really great atmospheres when you ignore the incessant yelling. Oh well. |

Another great and overlooked band here on PA. The usage of cello is what makes the band so great.

I had no idea this place existed. I shall come hang out with you guys!
I discovered Johnnytwentythree yesterday. Anyone familiar with them? I was rather amazed they'd slipped under my radar. |

^ Nice list. Though the agressive vocals in most of those bands turn me off.

I hope this isn't a huge bump... Anyways.
I'm not huge into post-rock. However, I really, really enjoy post-metal/math rock a TON. A couple of friends of mine showed me the genres, and I'm hooked. Here are a few post-metal/math-rock albums I really enjoy. Dirge - Wings of Lead Over Dormant Seas Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood This Town Needs Guns - Animals Isis - Oceanic Six Gallery - Breakthroughs in Modern Art Bygone - I can't remember the name of this one... oh well. Sunn O))) (do they count, really?) - Altar, in particular Paysage D'Hiver - Nacht Agalloch - The Mantle |

Ever heard of Canyons of Static? Maybe not, but my band Until Sunrise covered one of their tracks, soon to be released on the second edition of The Circle Project via post rock label Oxide Tones. Here's the track, clocking at just under 10 minutes:

Major bump.
Currently really enjoying these guys. Kind of a break from the dissonance and punk energy of a lot of Math Rock; these guys are a little bit more relaxed and tight. Great stuff. |

I really hate the term "Math Rock" but regardless I guess there is nothing else to call such bands due to their intricate structure. And isn't Metal music supposed to be the most extreme type of music? How can you become post-omega? Well, that's irrelevant. Here are some of my favorites.
Isis - In The Absence of Truth The Appleseed Cast - Saggamartha Don Caballero - American Don Red Sparrowes - At The Soundless Dawn Isis - Oceanic Isis - Panopticon Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood As you can see, I am quite the fan of ISIS. The first time I saw them live was enough to convince me to hold all of their material near and dear. What a great live band, it's a shame they broke up, because they had the creative capacity to make so many more amazing albums, not to mention the side project incarnations (Red Sparrowes, Old Man Gloom.)

It took me quite a while to realize it, but the new Russian Circus is fantastic.
