I certainly cannot.

---

Countless classical concerts/recitals/events (not enough, though, since I nonchalantly skipped twice as many, and still do...). In contrast, only a handful of jazz concerts and, rarest of all, rock (regardless of flavour) ones.

Earliest recital I can remember was when I was 5 years old. Local pianists' couple playing works for two pianos, at the Music School. I wasn't into playing music yet. Their son would later become my piano class colleague (and, slightly, rival). Full attendance, so I sat on the stairs, with the couple's boy besides me (how did he not get a seat??). I fell asleep halfway through.

There must have been other occasions prior to that, given that I was taken to theater, festivals and such since I was 3, but I'll stick to the earliest thing I remember for sure. Bizzarely, I can't pinpoint the first time I went to hear the Philarmonic Orchestra (or even close to that). Of course I started going regularly since entering the Music School, when they didn't have their own building and were playing in our concert hall, but there's nothing notable about that, plus I went both casually and not so willingly, plus I don't remember anything in particular.

First concert I saw in a different town was probably in Cluj-Napoca, mid-April 2004. Local Phily, but with invited guests (Russian conductor, Ukrainean? violinist, don't remember their names). Bartok's Violin Concerto was played, then Dvorak's Night. Both astoundingly. In this case, I don't think there were too many previous occasions, because when I travelled, it was either vacation and I had no interest in music, or I was competing and there was little time to treat myself with spectacles. Surprisingly, I became acquainted with Bucharest's musical scene much later.

Never went to opera in my entire life.

Leaving classical aside, first (but late, I was already 15 years old) came jazz (late september 2006). Al di Meola with Gumbi Ortiz, in my hometown. Also the first music festival of another kind. And also the first video bootleg I made (even if for myself). No stairs to sit on this time. Wild night.

First concert elsewhere in my country (Sibiu/Hermannstadt) was Jethro Tull, august 2007. Of course, it was both the first rock and prog rock concert (which I find it awesome); rather the only one [prog] until now, unless I start thinking of jazz/jazz-rock artists that could be considered prog, something that isn't quite the same thing.

I've just been to my first club concert two weeks ago (Urma). I can easily live without the club atmosphere and the two hours of music mix as "prelude", otherwise the concert wasn't bad at all. I do remember an open-air bar concert, years ago, although it was more of a "let's go out tonight and hear our friends play jazz in the town square" family thing.

First and only concert in a different country was classical. Arcadi Volodos, in Graz (Austria), March 2009. One of the most memorable ever.

My first Giggywig was, I've said it before so I will try and remember all the bands there (Dean will correct me if I'm wrong:

Knebworth 1978
Roy Harper
Brand X
Atlanta Rythm Section
Devo
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
Jefferson Starship
And some other Band called Genesis or something like that?

My next and first indoor gig was
The Members at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge.

First concert in 1983 by some band doing rock rock/pop/reggae covers. A kind of band that would play on a hotel terrace.

First author rock concert was Boa, (new wave with arty and proggy attitude) in late 80's.

First prog concert: Leb i Sol, in 1994. It remains the best concert I ever attended up to this day.

None of them, not even an anachronism. Bad Co. was a UK band unknown in Hawaii, I guess.
I doubt that too - Free and Mott The Hoople had US hits, which I assume got played on Hawain radio at the time, so a supergroup made of members of both bands would not have been unknown.
What?

It's quite difficult to define the "fist concert" concept. Should I count the free concerts at the folklore festivals, town anniversaries, beer festivals or at the neo-protestant gatherings? If so, I don't remember, but they weren't prog for sure LOL I went because everyone else did (there wasn't much else to do in our town, and sometimes they took place in the square in front of my building). Classical concerts, carols, etc. belong in the same category.

The first time I went at a concert of any kind when I moved to the capital was in December 2001, a jazz concert by Johnny Raducanu (solo piano).

The first time I went (and paid) to see an international band (of any kind) was at a Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation concert in august 2006.

The first time I went to a club concert was in December 2007. They had Travka, a hard-rock/alternative band. Club concerts are the best!

The first prog concert I've been to was a Kumm concert in 2004, but that was weird. I was walking on the street in a late evening, I heard noise and I entered a courtyard to see what was happening. There was a free Kumm concert and I stayed because I knew their radio hits, but I couldn't really understand/appreciate the rest of the material because I wasn't into prog at the time, at all. The next time I saw them (four years later) I was into prog, but they weren't anymore LOL

The first prog concert I've been to with the desire to see prog bands was in summer 2008. There were Israel Lights (math rock) and Yesterdays (symphonic rock) in the same lineup, and it was great.

The first classic prog band I've seen was Magma in May 2009. That was also my first concert in France.

Not counting all of the festivals and bars I went to as a child (yes, that's true), my first major concert was Peter Frampton and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Tommy Shaw opened up for both of them, but all of us who went together had a prior engagement so we missed Shaw's performance (no biggie- none of us really liked Tommy Shaw at the time).

Now I've got this friend (he drove us to the show- only one who could drive at the time, I think), and he's not that brightest crayon in the box (we pick on him all the time...it's a wonder he didn't pull into the next gas station and tell us all to f**k off and walk).  Well, we arrived just as Peter Frampton was cranking out one of his lesser known tunes.  After the song, our friend starts clapping sarcastically and shouting, "Okay!  That's enough of Tommy Shaw!  Bring out Peter Frampton."  We all look at him, and one of us (might have been me) tells him, "That is Peter Frampton."  At that point, he enthusiastically and genuinely starts cheering.  We have never let him live this (or dozens of other things) down.

My first prog concert was Yes's Masterworks Tour with Kansas opening for them.  Kansas was supporting their new album Somewhere to Elsewhere (which is my favorite Kansas album), and Yes played eight songs in two hours.  It was amazing.

My first non prog concert would probably have been a jazz festival at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.  Not sure who was playing.  I am fairly sure that was after the Kansas concert.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
