Martin Luther King Jr.- and civil rights leaders in general
Both share my birthday: January 15 (known as the Day of heroic Inevitability)

I'm not really religious (quasi Anglican/ Buddhist), but I do tend to respect religious men and women. One of my big heroes is the assassinated El Salvadoran Archbishop Oscar Romero.
Romero: "Make injustice visible -- witness, remember, teach, proclaim, tell. Light candles, do not curse the darkness."

Oh yes, how could I forget Benjamin Franklin, the all time coolest person to ever live. He did so much in his life yet had so much fun it's incredible. He carried a brillance that I strive to achieve, but never will.

I have three heroes, no more.
1. Jean Jacque Rousseau is probably the most brilliant political mind of all time, both socially and economically.
2. Socrates turned philosophy from a solitude concept to a social and interactive concept. Socrates was not the first philosopher, but expanded on it's possibilities the most.
3. Plato used Socrates in his dialogues to more conclusively explain what philosophy is, who a philosopher is, and how to philosophize.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Jesus. I might put him on my list for how much he helped the world, I'm not talking about "saving" us though, just helping individuals get through life and keeping a positive attitude even in times of worst.

Moses, Buda, Jesus, Mohamed are certainly different from heroes. We don't expect to act like them, but to act by their inspiration (for the believers).
Spiderman isn't a hero, he's a superhero!!!

I just admire Genghis Khan for being an incredibly brilliant and
iinnovative strategist. The Mongols were the first people to use
gunpowder as a weapon and I bellieve I've read that under Genghis Khan
they were never once defeated.

Isn't it said that an equally great (or at least incredibly large) percentage of the world's population is somewhat related to Genghis Khan because he had so many lovers? |
Clearly he was a mathematically precise person.......he killed a third, f+++ed a third, and ignored a third.......busy guy......
