Hmm...to be honest I never felt Ozzy was ever a bad singer (I've heard far worse in metal bands- Vince Neil, Bret Michaels, Phil Lewis...yes all 'glam metal' vocalists) and in fact think his voice works extremely well with the music. Sure, Dio is technically better, but Ozzy's vocals were the main way people could identify Sabbath- with their other vocalists it's a great deal harder to tell them apart from other acts. Gillan's stint was fun in a Spinal Tap sort of way but his appalling takes on 'Heaven and Hell' and 'Black Sabbath' in concert must be a nadir of the the metal genre in a sense. Glenn Hughes cluttered the OK 'Seventh Star' somewhat with some typically OTT histrionics, and really, Tony Martin was something of a Dio clone. So Ozzy has to get the vote from me!

Who has woted DIO 7 times ??? that's mad.... Black
Sabbath was so much better with Ozzy or infact i cant even call black
sabbath with another singer.. Black Sabbath did some very intresting
heavy albums like Vol 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath ( they included prog
influences ) Especially Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is really great !! Tony
Iommi is an original guitarist and made very original riffs

This is a duplicate poll ... I remember that the old one turned out exactly as the first post suggests here.

Ronnie James Dio! One of the greatest voices of entire rock history!
According to me BSabbath and Rainbow both was the best with him.

Dio. Ozzy may have been more of a showman, but his vocal abilities have been all smoke and mirrors for decades.

^^^I agree with you that Dio brought new life into Sabbath. All at the perfect time, when the new wave of British Heavy Metal was reallly picking up speed. They fit right in with Maiden,Priest et-al. I don't feel however that Dio was nearly as good as Oz. Ozzy's voice set the tone for Sabbaths sound. I just couldn't imagine songs like Paranoid, SnowBlind or Sweetleaf being sung in Dio's operatic way.

What the hell are you all talking about? Ronnie Dio brought a breath of fresh air to Sabbath whose best thing for them was dithering Ozzy's departure.
As with Rainbow, Dio was the catalyst who brought epic length songs to both bands.
Don't get me wrong, Ozzy did his fair share of calssics with Sabbath, but Dio completely brought the band to new musical realms. I mean, Ozzy couldn't have sang 'Children of the Sea', 'Mob Rules', 'Die Young' and the like, could he?

I've only included those who have sung on albums with Sabbath
I think Dio is a better singer but Ozzy was the best singer for Sabbath.
