I had thought I had responded to this KC albums topic before.

Anyway, very arbitrarily...

Red
Lizard
Islands
Larks' Tongues in Aspic
In the Wake of Poseidon
In the Court of the Crimson King
Starless and Bible Black

I do adore "Epitaph" off In the Court, and the album easily could go higher. Really I value each of those albums highly in its own way. I am someone who never got that into the post 70s KC, but I probably have not given those enough time or been in the right frame of mind when I tried. There's just so much great-for-me music out there.

I can't take part in this as I can't place KC's seven first in any kind of preferred order. I engage and immerse myself in whichever one of those I'm listening to, and it's always something special.

-For "fun", I can place them in order of most listened to KC album - to least: In the Court of the Crimson King, Red, Lizard, Islands, In the Wake of Poseidon, Starless and Bible Black, Larks Tongue in Aspic - maybe that counts for something. I don't know. It's almost the same order as I achieved them:)

-These are followed by their 1980's comeback albums - and Discipline would be my 8th. I don't connect the same way with the rest of what I've tried. And it hasn't really helped seeing later material performed live. I feel like I'm on the outside of the music, while with early KC, I'm always on the inside.

You're missing "Radical Action to Unseat the Hold of Monkey Mind" from 2017.
I'll skip that album, seeing as it's listed on Prog Archives as a 3-CD compilation. Smile

The Top 3 are a big surprise to me. I was expecting In the Court of the Crimson King to win this poll easily, as it's consistently rated as being one of the best debut prog albums of all time. I've never been a fan of the Larks' Tongues in Aspic album , although I know it has a big following here.
