CYCLOPEAN A classic Krautrock band for the modern age and with only one EP to their name so far, presumably having one eye on making a full album sometime. Meanwhile, Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson has one eye on his five bags of "heroin" (potentially worth £12 million on the streets of London, but actually worth about £5) which he somehow has to get through customs without anyone noticing, at the same time as smoking the biggest toke.... in the world (although he didn't inhale) and finding an alternative use for Viagra. Just another day on Top Gear. 2013: Cyclopean - Cyclopean (EP) - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ne2g22Z3CN42V7tSQDQk57IQ4fdqf71i4 Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 13 2024 at 13:36 |

CURLY CURVE If you like heavy blues guitar riffing, then you'll love the sound of Curly Curve, and you'll love the sound of guitar god Steven Seagal too, who throws a real curveball here by showing there's more to him than just beating up bad guys till they're black and blue. He can play bad-to-the-bone blues guitar riffs too. 1973: Curly Curve - Curly Curve - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxFl1Rkcnyc Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 13 2024 at 13:36 |

CREME DE HASSAN Who would have reckoned on a bazaar musical collaboration between a German-Palestinian (Ghazi Barakat) and a French-American (Paul LaBrecque) coming together to make hypnotic Middle Eastern folk music? It's surely the strangest German pairing since Adolf Hitler and Ernst Roehm (Benny Hill lookalike and leader of Hitler's Brownshirts), which came to a murderous end in The Night of the Long Knives in 1934. 2017: Creme de Hassan - Technique & Rite - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mL6D77HJlG0p8kchA2_BH1RkyrslfwlKs 2019: Creme de Hassan - Tricontinental Circus - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mgtojYTifvfN26bE58l13FA7GW11asCI8 Ernst Roehm - or Benny Hill? CRAVINKEL This band's on Fire! Cravinkel blended Country Rock and Psychedelic Rock along similar lines to Culpeper's Orchard (from Denmark) and Help Yourself (from England). You may not have heard of Cravinkel before, but you'll have heard of Frumpy and Spooky Tooth who they toured with in the early 1970's. Cravinkel must be the unluckiest band in Germany though when the house they were staying in burned to the ground and destroyed all of their belongings, resulting in the band breaking up prematurely. 1970: Cravinkel - Cravinkel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl5z-t8UEU0 1971: Cravinkel - Garden of Loneliness - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xB5jVnk5o8 Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 13 2024 at 13:35 |

^ Thanks for all the background info about The Cosmic Jokers and for giving an honourable mention to Guy Guden's Space Pirate Radio. After all, where else would you hear obscure Krautrock bands such as The Cosmic Jokers played on the radio. I can promise I'll also be featuring Walter Wegmueller and Wallenstein here too, eventually.

Hi, It may, for some performers, be a sad thing, but in the end, it showcased some talent and a few things that in many ways showcased the extent of the German "krautrock" thing, by taking it to what could be considered a little into the psychedelic side of things. The Cosmic Jokers, had one side of it be the opening for Space Pirate Radio for many years. Both sides are far out, and they feel like an improvisation, though it is not quite clear ... it has a similar feeling to the MMSoundtrack by AD2. That kind of amazing touch ... pure "krautrock" improvisation! Galactic Supermarket and Gilles Zeitschiff, might be a bit weird, but it feels like it is taking things into the psychedelic side some ... not sure how to otherwise characterize these pieces. They are interesting, and one of the seemingly appreciating Gilles, though we have no idea who some of these folks are ... my guess are that they were guests in the studio that happened to say something or help it all move along. I have a slightly different, less savory opinion of some of these moments, and how they took place, but everyone being very stoned and probably naked, is likely to have some interesting results. In those days, we didn't exactly do the stuff to just go walk around the street!!!! These two albums were also an advertising for the other albums by the same group and I believe it was Galactic Supermarket that also had a poster with all its members which was in my wall for a long time. The listing also included other groups and folks that were a part of these recordings, and Wallenstein was one of these. At the moment I can not remember any others. Planeten Sit-In is more of a KS album, with some neat parts in it. I am not sure how to review this, other than there is a possibility that some new/newer equipment that KS did not have or had played on before, that gave him a chance to go crazy on it. There are really far out moments in this album that show some improvisational ability, and likely moments of discovery and turning a sound into something playable. Not mentioned, but belonging in this group, is the album Tarot, which is credited to Walter Wegmuller, who narrates descriptions of the Tarot's Major Arcana, with musical vignettes by KS, and sometimes, I think you and I would think that we want to hear KS in these moments, and not WW whose voice is tiresome, and not exactly special ... but for a record, I think that it might make for an interesting context, but the appreciation is going downhill with that voice. I, personally, do not find the voice has anything that could be considered "spiritual" or "magical" on it, other than a Hollywood styled presentation that is ... up to you ... but not quite special to me. But the album has some far out moments and the ORIGINAL was a box that included a small Tarot deck.

THE COSMIC JOKERS They're cosmic! One of the best-known Krautrock supergroups, which included such notable members as Klaus Schulze and Manuel Goettsching (Ash Ra Tempel) and with five cosmic albums to their name. The five albums were assembled and released all in one incredible year by label boss "The Kaiser" without the performers' knowledge - and that's no joke! 1974: The Cosmic Jokers - The Cosmic Jokers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzJhoAXLmjM 1974: The Cosmic Jokers - Galactic Supermarket - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVo_cS_XdL8 1974: The Cosmic Jokers - Planeten Sit-In - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUh_kC28e0g 1974: The Cosmic Jokers - Sci-Fi Party - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPZSCQ26J30 1974: The Cosmic Jokers - Gilles Zeitschiff - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mFNEAEm7UVS5SMUSO0n9Xmvb_QDG3kJq8 Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 13 2024 at 13:34 |

COSMIC CIRCUS MUSIC A Kosmische Musik band who are so far underground that they're rumoured to have met Professor Otto von Lidenbrock and Arne Saknussemm - who you'll no doubt be familiar with if you're a fan of Rick Wakeman and Jules Verne. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 13 2024 at 13:33 |

THE BLACK CAT'S EYE Another amazing Neo Psychedelic band with Echoes of Pink Floyd. The Black Cat's Eye are no middle-of-the-road band. ARILYN Arilyn describe their music as atmospheric Space Rock, unlike their latest album, Solar System, which has barely any atmosphere at all, and when Arilyn band members are busy making a new album, it's a case of grabbing some much-needed sleep whenever and wherever they can. 2002: Arilyn - Tomorrow Never Comes - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lekUEY6NewpV6vGVmbW9uk0U0lKj2WeLY 2005: Arilyn - Virtual Reality - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nvN5H51NUlUPt2HuvBhLddgU-bSXoGg8I 2007: Arilyn - Alter Ego - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_leI9wpz0zCnQWGJphtao1Yu-0-Cwejgwc 2013: Arilyn - Shadows of the Past - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_l-ru6TUO7zwL9evoxwB6wWwW8EERRDx6M 2014: Arilyn - A Stripped Down Journey - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nx46gdNUaxWnnlcJsnsfmxkckfGX_xtyk 2017: Arilyn - #Eraser - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lKZ7U2eaFGCnZktYjzcSQozJnITm3g_3o 2022: Arilyn - Solar System - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lHBwGaFX_NSCtP4a3hQhnO2FegcgpIyp0 Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 13 2024 at 13:32 |

Thanks for giving Cherubin and Tanned Leather a worthy mention. I'm now backtracking slightly on the A-Z list by adding all of the other great Psychedelic/Space Rock bands to the Krautrock mix.

APHODYL Mehr Weltraumrock! Aphodyl's name was inspired by the Daffodil genus of plants (no surprise there!), so if you have a magnetic attraction for psychedelic jam bands who like to adorn themselves with flowers and beads, then prepare for a sonic attack from Germany's answer to Hawkwind. 2012: Aphodyl - Magnet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_VZv0cHHV0
