John also said in the Playboy interview something along the lines that it was he and Paul; the other two blokes could have been anybody. Right! And long before Abby Road, John had turned into quite the malcontent as far back as the second U.S. tour. I don't think he liked much of anything after Sgt. Pepper's', so I don't give him much credence, no matter what kind of genius he may have been. Don't get me wrong-love that voice! By the way, he was said not to favor the Abby Road medley, either.

^For the record. "Hammer" was considered an A-side song by McCartney as he was given to creating, as John Lennon so eloquently said, "granny music".

Well, I think it should not be. It is just outside my top 20; I put it on my first draft list. |
''Hammer was this throwaway ditty that charmed in the end. I feel the best Beatle songs were probably written in this spirit-on the whimsical fly and thus being in league with Hammer. Again, when preparing the list, I just jotted down for me what instantly came to mind-that is to say, the most memorable. As for the Beatles on a prog blog site, I don't get it entirely with what little they put forward in that vein. By the way, wasn't Oh-Bla-Dee (or however it's titled) the one the British press washed their hands of? |
okay I must be confused because I thought the song was about a real life murder and is therefore considered in extremely bad taste?

"The worst session ever was Maxwell's Silver Hammer. It was the worst
track we ever had to record. It went on for f**king weeks. I thought it
was mad." - Ringo. "That's Paul's. I hate it. 'Cuz all I remember is the track - he made us do it a hundred million times. He did everything
to make it into a single and it never was and it never could've been,
but he put guitar licks on it and he had somebody hitting iron pieces
and we spent more money on that song than any of them in the whole
album. I think." - John.

I cant hear it without picturing Steve Martin singing it | Then it's a good thing I've never sat down and forced myself to watch that movie (or E.T., for that matter). |
I bought it recently - I hadn't seen it since it was theatrically released - and was curious to see what i'd think of it now .. there are a lot of interesting musicians on it and I freaking love Paul Nicholas's singing in this. ET ...is unbearable

It's probably easier to list the songs I don't like. And like many, the Fabs don't get many turns on my old turntable these days.

Carnival Of Light - The Tribute Album! A double CD could just about fit five versions onto each disc (because just five versions wouldn't be enough)
