All's I can say is that although I'd suspect Beavis doesn't come here, for some reason, unbeknownst to him he is feeling really happy right now...
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Didn't Socrates suggest that it is better to suffer injustice than to cause injustice?  Cf., the so-called Golden Rule.

In any case, this entire debacle surrounding the inclusion of Metallica in the archives strikes me as somewhat puerile.  Have we not sufficiently argued the case in favor of it?  Perhaps the arguments aren't completely rigorous; still, there's less to be said for the lazy myopia which characterizes the counterarguments.

That's right. I think I'm going to open an "I'm not leaving" thread.

I'm with Iván on this one: no more protest once nothing more can be done. Wink

Teo: Fair enough, but in terms of content, it would be wrong to imply that no argument had been given by him despite how one feels about the way he expressed his views.  One can decry the tone, but that doesn't invalidate the content. Hyperbole and misrepresentation is best avoided all around, methinks.

The ladies of PA are causing quite the identity crisis today.  It appears that Ghost Rider has just left in protest.

Greg:Clap

I think any form of disrespect should not be tolerated. After all, most of us have to put up with c*** like that in our everyday lives, and we have the right to be left in peace on a site we use in order to relax and indulge our passion for music. Being a member of ProgArchives is not mandatory, and if one disagrees with its policies, either they make themselves heard in a polite, respectful, CONSTRUCTIVE way, or they should hit the road as soon as possible. There is absolutely NO excuse for using rude, derogatory language, or for personal attacks.

Yes, there's often a lack of respect at these forums when it comes to differences of opinion.  Not sure why matters can't be discussed in a more friendly and respectful manner and descend into insult and rancor.  We don't have to agree to be respectful, polite and charitable to each other.   To be fair to Darken, he raised a similar concern to mine: that it was classic Progressive Rock bands that put the Prog in Prog Metal far more than a progressive metal (but not Prog as a noun) band -- that being Metallica.  However, if as has been said, Metallica shares sufficient structural (compositional) traits with Progressive Rock music (has enough similarities), then it certainly should be in Related at the least (or if it has full-blown Prog albums, structurally-speaking, then in Prog Metal, of course).

As it's always been the case with this Metallica addition.... I've read a little of Certf1ed's reviews... and as always (well, almost... don't read his DT reviews Tongue), they're full of ARGUMENTS.....

On the other hand, we have people calling the addition (and therefore, in a way, the people who added them, hence, meOuch) , "obscenely retarded", but when time comes to actually try to reason and give arguments for their opposition, all they can do is..... WRITE IN CAPS.... as if by some mighty power, whatever you write IN CAPS somehow becomes true no matter what.... (I'm using that "technique" in this post as you can see).

In that case:

METALLICA IS IN PROG-RELATED... CAPISCE?!?  (IN CASE ENGLISH DOESN'T SUIT YOU)

METALLICA PLAYED PROG-METAL, CAPISCE??? (emulating you, I won't give any arguments.. just CAPS)

SHOW SOME RESPECT TO PEOPLE , CAPISCE???

There's always someone who will complain about anything - but there's been nothing like the fuss there was when Radiohead was added - it was practically war!

Then when Queen were added, it was almost like Radiohead all over again - and you should have seen the fuss over the Beatles.

Metallica are a completely logical addition - I've yet to see a good argument against them, and I think my recent reviews show clearly how I hear Prog in their music (not just Prog Metal, but PROG) - and there have been no analytical come-backs on any of them, just a couple of random hate posts.

There are also no negative reviews, only positive.

I do not count the ratings - it is quite obvious that the 1 star ratings are from sad people who blanket rated the Metallica albums (particularly the Prog ones) in order to lower their overall ratings.

So, that aside, this seems to be a perfectly acceptable addition, in comparison to the ones I mentioned above, with no reasoned objections - nice!

The important thing is not to stop questioning.
