Missus Beastly and Passport are JRF exclusively if you ask me, or you care about PA label of bands (which you've never done). Second list is just you trolling, thank you Captain Obvious.

Returning to Cristi's Krautrock/Jazz Rock debate (and why not) these are ten German Jazz Rock bands I know of who I'd also consider to be Krautrock:-
Bakmak Brainstorm Dennis Embryo Kraan Missus Beastly Out of Focus Panama Red Passport Tomorrow's Gift ...And these are ten well-known German bands I definitely would NOT Accept as Krautrock under any circumstances. Accept Alphaville Blind Guardian Boney M Enigma Helloween Milli Vanilli Modern Talking Rammstein Scorpions |

^ I originally had Swiss band Krokodil lined up for the letter "K" until BaldJean wisely suggested I add Jazz-Rock band Kraan to my A-Z list of classic Krautrock.
1972: Kraan - Kraan - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k2A_BCZNDQ0hYYeSCs9Vf1NYMuZWKM_9U 1973: Kraan - Wintrup - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kwYhWp_mmpnHJ-CBbjDVn_5ylQi9yd2UY |

Anyway, I guess the Kraan train left the station and we are at L. Lard Free is my particular favourite but was already mentioned. La Düsseldorf might count (don't know if it came up as I have not searched the topic)..
Sorry if this was mentioned already but here is Silver Cloud: By the way, I read through quite a few pages of this thread and saw that BaldJean suggested Kraan for the list (vsrious people made suggestions, and Paul added those to a list, so quite democratic). I have thought of her as being one of the more knowledgeable people here on Krautrock, and not just because she lives in Germany. Shame she wasn’t part of the earlier discussion. Based on my experience when it comes to reading many of his forum posts over time, I would think it may concern the inhalation of certain not-so-fragrant vapours that emanate from down under, and I don't mean Australia. Although one will find such effluence in Australia -- a large enough group of dingos would have given Mad Max (The Road Warrior) all the gas he needed.
EDIT: To be clear, this was just my failed attempt at an in-joke because he has written posts on the subject of smelling farts in the past and was not meant to be insulting. Just a bit of levity to follow the "Kould Kraan reasonably be konsidered Krautrock?" discussion. Maybe that topic deserves its own thread; might be interesting to get a wider variety of opinions. Thanks, it's much appreciated David. Blues rock is a significant component of much Krautrock. There are sort of different strands of Krautrock, and I liken that Kraan debut to music of the sort of Amon Düül II camp. EDIT: For another of the quite well known classic German bands covered in PA that is in JRF and is favorite of mine, there is Embryo, which I also consider to be JRF and Krautrock. Lots of bands that could fit various categories, as said, and often the albums themselves by a band would best fit different categories.
Sounds like you may have been sniffing something. Edited by Logan - March 11 2022 at 13:55 |

Thank you very much for this post, Logan. It may easy be the best description of Krautrock, I've seen so far, and so well in line with my experiences with it and thoughts about it.

Krautrock commonly has aspects of space-rock, psychedelic-rock, jazz-rock, electronic, hard rock, folk and ethnic music. It is eclectic. It is a pretty wide umbrella term. for a lot of experimental and/or trippy German rock and rock-related music that often incorporates long jams, certain grooves and repetition. To some it may just mean German rock, and to some it's synonymous with Kosmische.
Kraan's debut is my favourite and I hear it as far more Krautrock than jazz-rock but Krautrock is often very jazzy. It has psychedelic qualities, it has the long tracks, it has a raw jamminess, it has the ethnic qualities found in much of my favourite Krautrock and some electronic element (Kosmische commonly being a sort of spacey, trippy electronik musik). And for my part, Cristi, I am interested in your opinions and reasoning. Your thought process was not clear to me with the link other than to say that PA has it as JRF. I value diverse perspectives, nuance (not seeing things as overly black and white), and trying to keep an open-mind. I hope to gain some synthesis of ideas and new understanding through thoughtful (not that I am thoughtful enough) conversation and respectful debate. However one classifies this, I like it. I may not agree with all these classifications of yours, but it is the quirky thing about Krautrock that it's difficult to define and the albums may not so rarely be labeled with more than one label. Edited by David_D - March 11 2022 at 10:33 |

I've got a Spanish release of this album, and the red colour on it is more brown-orange than red (it's more brown-orange on my copy than on the photo). I like it best that way. Edited by David_D - March 11 2022 at 10:55 |
