I've heard of Texhnolyze but not seen it yet, definiely on my "to watch" list. Haibane Ranmei is a new name to me but if it's anything like SEL than I'll defintiely watch it.

Ergo Proxy's an excellent series that I love the art style for, I wish it was a style that was still in use.

I really need to buy SEL on dvd, I have Haibane Renmei and definitely want SEL and Texhnolyze to complete the "trilogy."

SEL is an old favorite that I honestly forgot about and Arise is just more GitS goodness, while Ergo Proxy and Phantom will be completely new for me.

My wife is going to be mad at me when my order from Amazon comes.  I went a little nuts last night and ordered the complete series for Serial Experiments Lain, Ergo Proxy, Phantom: Requiem For The Phantom, and the first two "Borders" of GitS Arise.

I like the idea of Arise, essentially being a prequel to both the original movie and S.A.C., showing how Section 9 came to be.  Anything GitS, and I'm there.  I absolutely love everything related to it.

I'm the same but it just feels like the characters are off somehow in Arise.

So this season i watched..

Gangsta
Braves of the Six Flowers (Rokka no Yuusha)
Charlotte

All were pretty good. Though Braves is the only one finished so far i'm pretty happy watched these shows.

Gangsta is an improved Black Lagoon. More dark and depth to the characters and setting. Main characters is a duo of neutral "handymen" - one is a deaf mercenary trained since a child and the other is a gigolo with a hyper memorization ability. Real unique imo.

Braves is about 6 heroes (Saints in this show) that have specialized abilities chosen by the gods to defeat risen demons that come every X years. Though this time there are 7 and so this cour involves inner conflicts between the characters trying to figure out which is the fake when they meet at the rendezvous.

Charlotte is an interesting show. Beginning as a slightly slice of life with a "monster of the week" style, it involves a world in which some children develop super powers during adolescent. Characters are likable and its pretty/well produced. There is a twist about half way through that makes the show have a much more interesting plot though - so that was super enjoyable.

SEL is an amazing trip, well worth watching. I've seen the first two Arise films and didn't really like them, I gather the recent series is basically the films chopped up with the final episode being the only all new materiel and it's considered worse than the films.

Watched the two Knights of Sidonia series recently, loved it. An excellent bit of Sci-Fi that is more grounded than most, you just have to get around the weird faces.

I'm revisiting the first anime I ever saw when I was a kid in the mid 90's, Armitage III.  I recently saw the complete OVA and movie collection on Amazon for $15, so I couldn't say no.  We'll see how it's held up over the years.

Serial Experiments Lain and GitS: Arise will be up after that.

Sounds good. I have bought the DVDs already, but haven't watched it yet.

I'm watching Bakemonogatari at the moment. Lots of great visuals (reminds me a bit of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika, which I recommend strongly). I don't know yet what to think of the story.

yeah, i have Madoka Magica among the ones i want to watch the most right now, and thank god it's on Netflix, too, lol.

also forgot to mention, but i finished the original Fullmetal Alchemist series a couple of days ago (THANK GOD I FINALLY DID IT!!!) which was great. i plan to watch the whole franchise for that matter, with my order as follows:

1. 2003 Series
2. Conqueror of Shamballa
3. Brotherhood Series
4. The Sacred Star of Milos

after watching all of this, next up is Cowboy Bebop (which i actually own the complete series from my birthday money!)

got done with the last movie today, and i really enjoyed it. i wished they would have more time for the fights with the villains and/or exposition regarding a few things, but overall i prefer that one to the Shamballa film.

Nah, Milos feels superfluous, shoe horned in somewhere along the main story of Brotherhood without any real attempt to make it fit in, and since that story very much had a resolution it kind of feels weird going back to Ed with both automail limbs and Al stuck in the armour suit again. Shamballa was pretty good, though not great, but served as a strong finish to the original series which I felt had a rather weak ending, particualrly compared to the manga and Brotherhood.

that's true, and i also enjoyed Shamballa as I forgot to mention as well! although i didn't mind the change back into the old look as it was like that for the majority of the series.

I have realized just recently that I have completed my 50th anime with Cowboy Bebop. Which is kind of disappointing because it feels like more.
