When it comes to Norwegian prog as a whole though, I prefer the current jazz rock/fusion scene, which, in the way that members of different bands are cooperating in several different band settings, I think of as similar to the old Canterbury scene.

If anybody can think of other bands that has members from two or more of these bands, please let me know. I'd love to add albums fitting this description to my discography.

On the Susanne Sundfør albums play members of Jaga Jazzist.
Yeah, that's right, but I don't think of Susanne Sundfør's music as jazz rock per se, so I didn't mention her. I really like her music though.

And Jaga members do a lot of different projects, with different acts. The band leader, Lars Horntveth, produced A-Ha's latest album for instance.

I have been existing on a steady diet of Wobbler, Gentle Knife, Jordsjo, White Willow, Magic Pie and Tusmorke. Norwegian Prog is in my soul.

Blackbox is also by far my favorite Major Parkinson album, for the same reasons too.

Just listened to the last two Tusmørke albums, and I enjoy both a lot. Not sure how high I would rate them, but they're both better than the band's low point to date, Riset bak speilet, IMO.

Great band and wonderful album that Blackbox. By far my favourite from the band up until now. I really dig how they managed to fuse gothic 80s music with a contemporary progressive expression alongside an odd but very interesting take on the Somewhere Over The Rainbow theme.

I shift all year between electronic, avant, psych, funk and jazz and just about everything in between. Those shifts though makes me think that 'Damn this is the best thing ever since sliced bread!!!!!'...though I'm not sure it'd have the same effect on me if i just stuck to my guns and stayed within a certain type of genre. Variety is the spice of life (along with garlic and chili of course).

Have you by any chance heard Tusmørke's two 2017 releases (three if you count the live one as well)? They released a second album during December called Hinsides ('Beyond' or 'over yonder' in English). Here's a link if you want to check it outSmile http://tusm-rke.bandcamp.com/album/hinsides

^ Oh Dear Sir !!   Fort Bak Lyset just hit me for ‘6’ ........28 even !! From the frog-stomping tripper on the cover art, to everything else, just what is in my soul. I thought Canterbury was my lifeblood, then Swedish Prog, then Metal.......But the more I think about it,............NORWAY !!!

^After being completely won over by their most recent Bydyra I'm inclined to agree with you Tom. Man that thing is just perfect to these ears. The fact that it reminds me of old Danish cartoon music (Cirkeline) adds a whole other dimension to the already deliciously played psych rock. One that speaks to the inner child in me.

Norwegian prog seems to get better every year. Best albums of recent years (2011-present).
