Eddie Jordan believe Schumacher will join Mercedes next year. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8368107.stm Mercedes has suddenly gone very silent over the last 48 hours. Schumacher has said he has some unfinished business. He desperate wanted to race that second Ferrari last year as a replacement for Massa. Mercedes funded Schumacher career in the early years, remember. Both he, Brawn and Haug were locked in long conversations at Abu Dhabi. I do not think they were discussing the new Transatlantic album. Mercedes did not buy Brawn on the spur of the moment. They had Rosberg signed up and must have been pretty sure they could get the biggest name of them all. Their long lost son, no less. Something is brewing........ |

Schumacher! I dont believe that for a second as its non of the F1 news sites (the more reliable ones at least) and he's very loyal to Ferrari.
For the record, Mercedes own 75.1 percent of Brawn GP and will rename it Mercedes GP next year running in the famous Silver Arrows colour scheme, with Brawn and Nick Fry owning the remaining 24.9 percent. I've read a report suggesting that Button was actually pushed by Mercedes because they didnt want him in favour of an all German line-up (Rosberg and probably Heidfeld).
I can see why Button would go to McLaren next year, its the only other top seat available, but Hamilton is one of the two drivers that I doubt that he can beat over a year (the other being Alonso).

I feel that I should take out my wheel and pedals for a round with Grand Prix Legends again. I loved that game. I still do. Latest news: Mercedes is hoping to announce Michael Schumacker as one of their drivers for next year. Their dream team is him and Nico Rosberg. *dunk* (my head hitting the floor after fainting in sheer exitement) |

I just made a Youtube video...
A video containing many photos of vintage racing.... to capture the real, old spirit of motorsport, sadly lost in todays F1.
Credits goes to the original photo authors and to everyone who shares the passion for racing. BTW the soundtrack is welll.... PROG! ![]() ![]() Edited by Luca Pacchiarini - November 18 2009 at 11:01 |

Mercedes-Benz bought Brawn earlier today and have made it their factory team. Mr. Brawn will control around 20 % of the company though and remain it's brain. The new team will probably have a German line up next year with Rosberg and Heidfeld. Jenson Button will very probably drive at McLaren together with Lewis Hamilton. That driver line up will be a kind of a Champions of the Champions where the 2008 and the 2009 champ fights it out. That is going to be something ! .......Although I am off to a bookie to put my money on Hamilton. The odds are probably even on that one. I did not see this coming. What's next up ? |

Bad news for F1 all round this week with Bridgestone announcing that 2010 will be their last year and now Toyota pulling out immediately. Still, at least it means Sauber will be on the grid next year.

It seems like Toyota is heading out of F1. I never understood why they were in F1 in the first place. A lot of money for nothing. Their hiring of the wrong Schumacher (Ralf) for a fortune was not inspired. Their sacking of Gascoyne because he wanted to go motorracing and win F1 championships was very stupid. Why were they in F1 ? |

Glad I'm not the only one that felt that way. It's so true, that track really did have no soul in it. I'm mixed on Tilke I personally am a fan of some of his tracks, (Im thinking Malaysia, China and Turkey) but others are just terrible. Especially alot of his revamps of old tracks... Abu Dhabi is like every other Tilkedrome; its big, expensive, ostentatious and completely devoid of soul.

Was not a fan of the Abu Dhabi track...
It was just...weird. Can't explain, but when I was watching it I felt, weird. No excitement or emotion. Will agree with Luca that it also seemed extremely over the top and exotic. Edited by JJLehto - November 03 2009 at 02:17 |

Personally I like the new Abu Dhabi track...at least the complex it's built in. The track is a bit flat for my tastes, but I like the new exiting tunnel. At least it won't be hosting the finale again next year.
All in all, an excellent year in F1 I thought. While not the nail biters they've had over the past two years, the Brawn blowout was certainly as shocking as either of the results from recent years (although admittedly this lessened over the course of the year). I fear though I will lose track of all the changes that will happen over the off season...new teams, new rules, new tracks, new drivers, drivers with different teams...ahh well. Can't wait for 2010! (Fingers crossed Canadia makes it back on the schedule)
As for NASCAR...I think i will change my format for watching 'Dega races...watch the opening 20 laps and the final 40-50 laps and skip the in between bits. I agree fully with Jr....its not bump drafting in the corners thats the problem, its blocking. Sure, bump drafting in the corners will sometimes lead to a wreck, but anything can really. Doubt NASCAR can get away with a no blocking rule either....Hopefully NASCAR will learn and the racing will get to large packs for 80-90% of the race again instead of what happned today (sans the last 20 laps or so).

F1 is well over the top and I can agree with your criticism of it. F1 is more about storylines outside the racetrack than motorracing. Most of the races puts me to sleep, to be honest. I am watching real motorracing now. The NASCAR race from Talledega. It is red flagged at the moment due to a big accident. Being turned over in 300 km/h is perhaps not a healthy thing. But the driver walked away from the crash. Good fun, this race. Edit: Make that two big crashes in five laps. Mark Martin's world was also turned upside down in over 300 km/h. Well, it is bound to happen when you turn loose 30 mad racers for two laps and they all want to win. Madness is the right word. Edited by toroddfuglesteg - November 01 2009 at 15:55 |

Exotic races in countries where nobody gives a damn about racing
Excessive gigantism
Showing off of richness
Lack of challenging corners
Big paved run off areas
Flatness
Predictability

I hope the Abu Dhabi track collapses because it sums up everything wrong with todays F1
(Nobody should get hurt, though)

the Empire of talent is still strong
![]() Looking forward to todays's race at Abu Dhabi which should not be written off as a practice run - there are still points to be earned and a race to run, Hamilton is well up for a win achieving Poll in the qualifiers, though the last race is last ditch for many drivers, the spectators can all be guaranteed a splendid race!

I just watched the last half of the NASCAR truck race at Talledega. Scary stuff !! Very exiting and top racing. But still very scary. I was waiting for The Big One and it arrived after some hairy pack racing. 8 cars into the wall and a big mess. Nobody was hurt, thankfully. The racing has to be seen to be believed. Big packs of 40 cars in a big pack, 3-4 wide and inches away from each other. It is edge of the seat stuff. That was true racing. |
