I am enormously proud of British Prog bands, although sadly because most people here are glued to the BBC they only think anything worth listening to is in that- extremely small - sphere. Genesis is very well known and is a national institution, the same for Rick Wakeman, but having secured a ticket for Porcupine Tree ( i am understandably excited) i mentioned i was seeing them to many people, but no-one had even heard of them! When i mention Prog they go "oooohhh....." no interest at all. If they started playing Prog music on the BBC TV or on adverts on the other channels there would be many i'm sure who would "discover" it. All we hear is Robbie Williams, Madonna or Rap, or "Britpop Awards"with not one Prog band. There is a huge "silent" majority here i'm sure who enjoy Prog, many on PA, though i have mixed feelings about Prog being "popular" of course, i'd love the British groups old and new to get a little more respect from their own people!!

I've heard of them, but I don't have an album by them as of yet. There's also a folk prog band called Asi Somos and I have their debut album. I'm having problems getting in their web page. http://www.grupoasisomos.com/
You might be hearing them later in the day. |
