This Barcelona quartet was in town (Brussels) last night, and I managed to catch their show and it was quite good

Jaume Vilaseca Quartet: Jazznessis: the music of Genesis (70-74)

http://www.myspace.com/jaumevilaseca

last night's set list:

intro-medley
White Mountains
Seven Stones
After The Ordeal
Firth Of Fifth
Return Of The Giant Hogweed
I Knew What I liked

2 epic jazz-rock encores but no more Genesis

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

:-)- nice catch
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Sounds like Crimson Jazz Trio (concept-wise), haven't had a chance to listen yet.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

My girlfriend and I are both relatively big Genesis fans, so I bought the album for her for Valentine's Day. As a fan of Jazz, too, I'm enjoying this tribute album immensely by way of myspace music. Now I'm seriously considering getting a second copy for myself...
