Oh boy, this is sooooo tempting......
BTW easy to get to  Shoreham BY Sea ? I suppose it's cheaper to get a B&B  in SBS then London.

It'll definitely be cheaper to get a B&B there than in London. And probably a lot nicer too, as it's an old seaside town. A quick timetable search suggests it takes about an hour to get there by train from London. I'd say go for it! Big smile

Hell, at least you've seen them before. GG had disbanded before I was even born, hence me being super-excited about this gig. It might be my only chance to ever see anything even approximating Gentle Giant live - a chance I thought I'd never get anyway!

I'd love to see this too!  You know, Gary goes to Nearfest every year... maybe he can convince them to do this at Nearfest next year.

It may well be a possibility. Here's what Malcom Mortimore said of the project (apparently posted on ProgressiveEars):

To all our friends,

After all the interest and encouraging comments from those attending the Rentle Giant gig and also those commenting on the YouTube snippets there has been further developments .......

Gary, myself and the boy's have been joined by Kerry, with the addition of the singer Mike Wilson.

Rentle Giant is now "Three Friends", a name chosen so as to not offend the legacy of Gentle Giant but hopefully to add to it by playing faithful interpretations of Gentle Giant's music.

We also hope that new music will be created as a result of this group.

Our first gig as "Three Friends" is 16th April 2009 at The Ropetackle Arts Centre, Shoreham on Sea, England, UK. With more to follow. (details going up on Ropetackle site soon)

Love and best

Malcolm

Well, if I can learn how to swim, train myself to be able to cross the Atlantic, maybe.
But then, the Montreal Canadiens are scheduled to play & likely lose a game that night, eh ///

When your at the gig TP, tell them to play in America, preferably New Jersey or New York City. Big smile
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

ClapClapClap Me hopes so too.  Would love to see them.  Wonder if they'll come to Continental Europe anytime.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I shall endeavour to pass on your requests!

I must say I'm surprised by the lack of interest from the Brits on this forum. Am I really going to be the only member of PA at this gig?

I've got room in the basement for a sleepover if they want to play Moncton. And an above ground pool to relax in after the gig ...Cool
And if I have enough notice, a few dozen bottles of fine home made wine ... and or gassy beer ...

If I have money to spare (getting paid tomorrow) I will try to get to see this awesome show. But alas being a poor youth I cannot guarantee I can keep the money I earn.

Wonderful news! I hope they do some shows on the continent as well. I'm not a fan enough to go to England to see them, but if they come to the Netherlands, Belgium or the north of France...

I am coming all the way up to London over Easter [ yes, that's right from here downunder ] but will have ventured off to Italy by then . What a BUMMER !

Only prog I can find in London over this period is a GAZPACHO concert at Islington. Does anybody know of anything else ? My wife and I will be there from 7 to 11/4.

I'm afraid Tina Turner does nothing for me even at our respetive ages ! ! Not that she ever did .
Looking still the same after all these years...

Perhaps older members of PAs could form a GG tribute band and call it PArentle Giant...Maybe not.

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

Gentle Giant - one of the few classic bands that are impossible to make a tribute band for them
yet you still have time!
