Apparently Radio 1 is among the stations experimenting with visual radio - so that would be television then?

Been going for some time. Hit one of the channels, 301 to 303 on the terrestial digital box and some nights you're find a live band performing - otherwise snooker! 
The best eclectic music on the Web,8-11pm BST/GMT THURS.
