I'll take that over the tacky, plastic look of the 1980s metal craze  ..went from genuine headbangers in t-shirts and old jeans to idiots in leopard skin tights and blue headbands

I asked for tartan paint in London once - I got both

Unfortunately, I remember my 19th birthday all too well - 1982, Welwyn Garden City British Aerospace Social Club (cheap beer), eleventyfifteen light & bitters (when was the last time you heard one of those being ordered) & the better part of a bottle of brandy back at my mate's house... with predictable, messy results

I blame the alcoholic poisoning for my subsequent penchant for the mullet, stretch jeans (yes - with red piping) & Pallas albums.

I got better though.

See Rico - this is a place for nostalgia (or in a couple of cases, neuralgia, hence Fandango's nickname 'face-ache ) and you're more than welcome, so long as you behave, don't interrupt (or correct ) your elders and betters, make plenty of tea & make sure Mystic Fred takes his medication as and when needed - they're in the cabinet, next to my 'special' ointment

Well, except some of the part of serving elders of an Empire that hasn't actually conquered my nation in history (but who lost, dramatically, the last match of the European Cup group, against us, two times, back in the very good old days) - we could, instead, make an awkward similarity about how the Romans bashed our pre-ancestors skulls - I can go along well with that, and might even enjoy it...Smile

anyway Riccy, the essential thing to remember about 'Sheddism' is that its not so much a number, but more of a state of being... at 40, I am one of the younger members to have been offered the dubious privilege of affiliated membership, but that is only because I prematurely fulfill many of the criteria... I walk into a room and forget what I went in there for, I forget people's birthdays, meander mid sentence, can't remember where I've put my keys and make an involuntary groan when I try and get up out of a lounge chair...Confused

now, where we I?  what was I saying??....Ermm

Rule No 3562, Paragraph 36b Subclause iv) Thou shalt not, at any time within the vicinity of the Grey Room Shed (name change: Mystic Fred 25th July concurred Jim Garten 27th July) utter any reference to the prolatarian pasttime commonly known as Association Football (or 'Soccer' if you are Patrick), its players, grounds or sociological impact upon Western Civilisation.

The agreed punishment for doing so within ear shot of any other member, will be enforced washing up duties, vacuuming of biscuit crumbs and collecting of Chopper's (previously mentioned) toenails, for a period of 14 days...commencing immediately from the moment of the initial offense...Stern%20Smile

Ouch

now that we mention it, you ought to know that I haven't been really educated a lot with chores...so even if I'm put to do some, and would do it ought of respect, I still might do them utterly wrong...

Yes, tea. A nice big mug of hot tea. Make sure the water is boiling - a real roiling boil - and then let it stand for a few minutes before adding just a little milk. And some nice home made biscuits while you're at it. Or chocolate hobnobs if Garten's had all the home made biccies again.

Chop chop!

Then you can pop down to the store room and ask for a long stand.

still waiting on James to get me that Cry

I do need a pound of atmospherics for the Shed's old steam radio - John Peel's Perfumed Garden doesn't sound right without them, and if they've got any Luxembourg Effect diodes then a couple of those would be good too.
What?

Oh, better get on to it then, in time for 5 o'clock.
Oh wait, that means 7 o'clock here. Phew! Enough time to put a bit of Shostakovich instead...

Instead of those biscuits (which, if home-made, would be more like ruin-made), how about some Naty Water Rolls? it's the only thing I got in the house right now...

Maybe an Irish coffee would be nice too... Ermm Big%20smile

When you fetch those biscuits, don't forget to put the doily on the plate.  And hold it properly, by the edge, so you don't get fingermarks on the confectionery. LOL

Gosh, is this what it feels like to have 'staff'??!  I could get used to this... Tongue
