Quick question - do you retain Italian nationality or could you (would you) apply for a US passport??

Yes, I do - neither country care for other citizenships, since you use a US passport to enter the US, and an Italian passport to enter Italy. Many people who become US citizens do so in order to be able to reside at least part of the year in their native country (or in another EU country in our case), which is not possible with a Green Card. When you take the oath of citizenship, you have to say that you renounce all your ties with other countries, but I don't care about such words, and my ties with Italy are a bit odd to say the least.
However, there are countries, like France, that don't allow dual citizenship, which means you have to choose. Being a GC holder is better than being illegal, of course, but you're still vulnerable to deportation and other stuff, so this is why most people go for citizenship. As I said, for me it is just a matter of convenience - I don't believe in any kind of patriotism, and see myself as a citizen of the world (as we all should be). |

Could be an appropriate time to break into a chorus of Michael Jackson's 'we are the world'

Hmm, these new musical acts have nothing on the oldies.
Neil Young was great at Glastonbury. He blew everyone else away, even Springsteen. The new bands just sound boring and uninspired in comparison. Their music just seems to drone to my ears. |

Yes, but with you, it was something else... Not that I've been up to my usual standards as of late. Too many things going on.
