My younger brother graduates High School today!
Obviously the parents are very proud and excited. Him and I are not so much proud, but VERY excited!
That "school" was the sh*tiest sh*thole there is, run by a bunch of incompetent morons and gave my family nothing but hassle for 8 years, and kicked us aside constantly (despite my parents unwavering, dedicated help). And of course they continued to cater and give breaks to the families of the popular kids, ( I sh*t you not) and made my brothers life a living hell.

So congrats to younger brother Kevin, for getting ready to start a new chapter in his life. And as for good 'ol WHS I say good bye and GOOD RIDDANCE!!!
I can't wait to spit on your ground and now that we're done maybe I'll pay Mr. Principle a visit Wink

You know what, JJ, I guess you'll do neither of those thingsSmile  You want to now, but you won't.

I had to put up with all sorts of sh*t in Sixth Form - this was 1975 and I was suspended along with a couple of friends 'cos we wouldn't get our hair cut. Hippy-dippy maybe, but true. We had school on Saturdays and I had a serious girlfriend at the time, so you can imagine how many times I cut after a heavy Friday night. I hated it at the end, and was only allowed into the premises to sit my A-Level (pre-Uni grade) exams then physically escorted off the premises. My parents stuck up for me just enough for me to be allowed to take my exams in school rather than having to do God knows what to sit them elsewhere.

The anger, justified as it may be, soon dissipates, believe me. The whole world out of school opens up to you and I guess you'll end up feeling pity for those you've left behind, not anger. IMO they're not worth the effort. Out of around 20 teachers I had two really decent ones and the rest were uncaring and indifferent. Looking back over the years, they barely meant a toss then and now it's the first time I've thought about school in so many years - and only 'cos I read your post.

For what it's worth i enjoyed Uni immensely, basically because of the freedom and the fact that you're treated like an adult. The onus is on you to perform - no-one makes you do anything you don't want to.

Sorry for the Oprah-style post but i know how you might feel - trust an  old git like me with kids, bills and all that goes with it, it's never worth expending the mental or physical effort on people such as you're talking about. Play something LOUDDDDD instead!
It's not that I can't find worth in anything, it's just that I can't find worth in enough.

Terrible moment this morning...

Woke up in a fine mood, lay there thinking 'I'll make some coffee, have some breakfast...'; lay there listening to Planet Rock on the radio...

Then I remembered:

It's not Saturday, is it?

Why do people start posting NEW Michael Jackson threads now? They MUST surely realise its way too late and it'll be already here?

Or am I expecting too much?

Even though we have a very laid back attitude in the office, it doesn't extend to Poets days unfortunately - at 5.27 this afternoon, I'll still be here... I'll be doing bugger all (what projects can you realistically begin late on Friday?) & watching the clock.

...or playing Poker on Facebook...

Now now, Jakko Jacszyk, Gary Husband  and Allan Holdsworth were/are all members of Level 42 and are involved in the prog and jazz movements.

So it's not all bad.

Didn't know Allan Holdsworth was involved in Level 42... you learn something new everyday - when I saw them at Glastonbury it was still Jakko Jacszyk (whom I seem to remember played a blinder)

Thanks, JimSmile! In two years I will have to remove conditions (which basically means proving Micky and I have a real marriage), but that won't be a big deal. Hopefully I'll be able to vote in the 2012 elections, if they manage to streamline the citizenship procedure.
