I doubt it.  I tend to work a lot better alone when it comes to music.

Yeah, I know what you mean there. I never participated in school band or anything like that; I am a composer by myself, unless it's collaborating with my band members... even then, there's some sort of direction I sometimes want them to take. Depends though. In the end, I usually play music alone.

I like playing with a drummer, but that's about it.  That way I can do whatever I want without worrying about being out of key with anybody.

Wrong again.  His favorite musician, by a considerable margin, is John Coltrane.  Obviously, he doesn't feel that drummers are in any way superior to other musicians.

I wasn't serious anyway. LOL

Coltrane was amazing, however. He has to be one of my favorite saxophonists. However... since this is the RIO/Avant thread... what are your favorite (anyone can answer) RIO/Avant saxophonists?

Elton Dean first!
Gary Windo second.

I'll get back to you on the others late.

Chris, I am so jealous of you!  I just found this.

Are you going in April?  I hope to see you there.

Listening to avant garde classics on public transport is quite the epitome of cool, methinks. Big%20smile

Much of my 80 GB ipod is filled with RIO/Avant/Zeuhl, and I usually have it set on to shuffle. This was the soundtrack to yesterday's commute into work (today I listened to National Health - Playtime start to finish) :

I've been meaning to get that, and your post reminded me of it, so I ordered it immediately.  LOL
