Just downloaded the CD and starting to listen. Cannibal Surf Babe is the 12 track.
Kind of disappointed because the download is only 128Kbps. |

I listened to about 5 seconds of "Out Of This World", but I'm really not listening to anymore. I really want to reserve it for a proper listen.

I was making a Beach Boys reference, since Brian Wilson is referenced in "Cannibal Surf Babe. E |

I'm not listening to it. "Hard As Love" has been the only song that I've heard all the way through.
Hopefully it arrives shortly. E |

I've still resisted. I hope I see it your way because I'm still having a tough time with this whole concept. |

OK, just got back and listened to the whole thing. I can't say I'm disappointed because what I heard was basically what I was expecting. It's like a nice coffee shop CD that's mellow and laid back.
I gave it the proper listen that it deserved, though. It just didn't reach out and grab me like I thought it would. I want to hear Marillion's intensity on "If My Heart Were A Ball" or even "Out Of This World", but it's AWOL on L=M. E |

Sounds a little disappointing - How was the new studio track?

Sorry to hear that. Maybe it's my mood these days but the CD really got me and I can't stop listening to it. I agree that it's mellow but it was really hard to expect something different from an acoustic album. |

As H says on marillion.com, the new music is a lullaby for grown ups and I could not agree more. The track is a ballad with basically voice and piano. |

New song is probably the weakest on the whole disc. Reminds me a little of "Older Than Me", and I don't necessarily care for that one. E Edited by E-Dub - October 04 2009 at 19:10 |

I quite like "Older Than Me", although I don't think its really a fantastic or great track. Whats your favourite acoustic cover so far? |

Do you have Unplugged At The Walls? You should get that if you don't already. I don't know why I'm having a tough time with L=M, but accepted the Walls and Piss Up projects so easily. I guess it's because this is (supposedly) and new 'studio album'. Maybe if it was a live gig recorded on CD it would be different. I really think it's because I view the whole 'acoustic' thing as being so 1990's. I will say that my concern now is instead of doing the original versions of "Out Of This World" or "Quartz" on future tours, they'll opt to do the acoustic one and not the original. I plan on going to the next convention and hope that one of the nights isn't an all acoustic set. Just sad to say that for the first time in being a Marillion fan, I'm not excited over a new disc. I'm warming up to it, but the whole section of "Older Than Me", "Threw Me Out" and "Especially True" from The Hard Shoulder still leaves me cold. I'm just counting the minutes until the incredible "Real Tears For Sale". From this disc, "Quartz" did stick out. "If My Heart Were A Ball, It Would Roll Uphill" wasn't too bad, either. "Runaway" from Unplugged At The Walls is actually quite cool. Surprisingly, however, are their acoustic interpretations of Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees' and Dion's "Abraham, Martin & John". Very beautiful. E |
