An evening with barbarians after the war

Soldiers roll on by
under the crimson sky
there's one missing an eye
Oh my!

The one in the rear
who's still trembling with fear
has only got one ear
Oh dear!

A man drops a hose
to pick up a white rose
he hasn't got a nose
How gross!

Two bench related thoughts

I

I'm not telling the truth when I lie
on a bench in the park
where everyone believes me
to be lying

II

A fat man can warm a bench
for two thin men
but a warm bench warms
the fat and the thin just the same

A girl plays the piano
in a sparsely decorated room below
she taps on the dark wooden floor
with her black leather shoes
her ivory fingers blend with the keys
and the locks of her hair

The Insects' Dinner

He says:
Let's get on the road tonight, baby!
I heard they serve some wonderful squirrel
on the highway 9.
We shall dine in the moonlight.

She says:
If only you were a little more elegant.
You spit too much acid on your food,
remember what the doctor said?
I dare not dine with you in public.

He says:
I don't mean to eat so fast!
It's your immense beauty and charm
that makes me drool acid.
I guess I better eat alone.

She says:
So it's my fault that you can't behave?
You should have married someone ugly
like yourself.
I guess you better eat alone.

While I was cutting my nails
the paint dried a little

I dropped a pen and there was no one but the forest to hear.
A writer without a pen is a common but an unrecognized sight.
Sightseeing is far from universal, but oh so pleasing.
I take pleasure from simple things, leaving them displeased.
Everything that is simple is an abstraction, and a false one too.
Counterfeit bills all look the same to me, paper.
The state owns all money, that makes it worth nothing to real people.
The last time I had a cake it was some time ago.
The thoughts of a wandering person hungry.
a muttered justification, nothing
more but then suddenly a
fall, a fall, a fall
The winter always comes too soon
the leaves drop under the snow
the snow melts leaving a mark
like police officers on the asphalt
Is that how they spell it?
I once knew a witch
or maybe it was just her hair that was red.
The guinea pig she had or was it a rat
shown on a video with her hand
a film star and doesn't even know it, I think
all animal tests should be tested beforehand.
One chocolate left and the shops are closed.
What happens to people who eat at night?
Creatures of the night, sinking teeth
on a cold chocolate bar taken from the fridge
so it wouldn't melt as
the summer always comes too soon.
I think I've left some dots out
adding them would ruin the authenticness
says who can't spell
I wonder where she is now with her red hair
or was it brown or blonde
the rat was brown or grey like the asphalt.
This is going nowhere.
Whatever I'll just eat the chocolate.
They eat dogs in China
maybe rats too
they used to burn witches
when they could have cooked them
some people don't believe in witches
but I've seen them on TV.
Once I knew a redhaired person.
This is the sixth track already and I just switced the record
what nonsense
sixpence
tupee
hah!
What a bleak ending if it's a fade out.
I dropped a pen and
there was no one
but the forest
to hear.
Blah!
(I know it spells toupee I'm not an iddiot.)

My Life: As It Is, As It Was, And As It Shall Be.

So many bottles of lemonade
there's hardly any skin left
(and so the ink dissolves)
memories are lost for all to see
material plans washed away
(so much money goes to hamburgers)
will she know me by my empty hand
revealed before her silvery eye
(will she see what I want to be)
questions lead to nothing
and lead can be very cold
(I want to make hammers again)
the scent of metal and wood
the warmth of living fire
(I never learned to weld)
I'm going to write a book
I'm going to start a band
(I'm going to put money on horses)
there shall be a rider statue of me
there shall be a mausoleum
(there shall be a memory)

Racoons for Everyone

Racoons for children, racoons for wee,
racoons for you and racoons for me.
Racoons for everyone, racoons so sweet!

The Discreet Wrath of the Living Plants I-III

We are the mighty cactus gentlemen
we sting without police records
we offer dessert in the desert
we are green but dangerous.

We are the water lilies
we are the fishermen's fear
we grab hooks like no fish
we hang on tight to break the string.

We are the bright red poppies
we allow no puppies trample us
we are the queens of this field
we, whose crown is the morning dew.

Foreign Seeds

Conquistadores planted seeds.
Seeds there were plenty.
An incident occurred.
"That's just great, thanks to you and your teeth I'll never be an organ doner anymore",
cried the one with a hat.
The one without a hat wept.
The seeds grew.
The hats grew.
Hats there were plenty.
The one without a hat wept.

The Sad Fate of a Wannabe Spoon

I've swallowed too many thoughts today
my tongue tastes like science
when I grow up I'll be a spoon
and they'll taste my stainless steel

but they just licked my smooth skin
they stripped me from strawberry jam
left me lukewarm and dirty
waiting to be washed clean of memories

the sweet sweat of numb hands
teats, frets and dumb glands
what do you perceive?

dysfunctional functions tear
perpetually, boringly swear
at what time do we leave?

soluble solutions left still
unstirred, to rather kill
which level do you want?

to wait, to wear on frailest nerves
to guess, which is the grayest curse
the end, 'til which it haunts
The scattered jigsaw of my redemption laid out before my eyes
Each piece as amorphous as the other - Each piece in its lack of shape a lie

I Don't Know What Water Smells Like

I don't know what water smells like.
Once I tried to find out
by putting my nose underwater
and breathing its scent.
I almost drowned!
Nothing like this ever happened
when I breathed the scent of air.
I know what air smells like.
I don't know what water smells like.
I may not know what water smells like,
but I can still sing underwater.
At times I sing a sad song underwater.
The amplifier is my bathtub.
At times I'm a very sad person.

A Colour Blind Person at the Traffic Lights of Love

Farewell, fair maiden,
the light is green!
Why is it always red for me?

I'll throw in a few of my better ones:

The Temple's Colouring Book

Temple lit by moonlight, priest walks up the stair
Lady at the window, face showing despair
She looks pretty enough, 'Please pull up a chair.'
Sympathetic eyes but he just doesn't care.

Ragged child starving, the priest passes him by,
Closes temple doors, and leaves the child to die
Comforts shaken conscience with another lie
'Please expire quietly, there's no need to cry.'

Walks home, heart in silk purse, but drowning in sin
Sees unhappy stranger, very tired and thin
Knows at once his purpose, and greets with a grin
Gives the temple's colouring book, already coloured in.

---

Based on the time someone from the Leamington Christian Mission mentioned that they give presents to the homeless kids/people around there at Christmas each year, and some people see the charity as a way to get rid of worthless stuff and they get a few  children's colouring books with all the pictures coloured in. Really opened my eyes because that's the exact sort of thing I could sort of see myself doing. In context, priest and temple are probably out of place, but priest is somewhat catchier than mayor. This was written while listening to King Crimson's Book of Saturdays compulsively.
---

Mediocre Days

Mediocre days, gone in a haze
Open your eyes, open the lock
Just try to lose time, still pantomime
Sever all ties, shatter the clock

Noone can refuse, blow out the fuse
Escape this hall, escape the dark
But all of the nights, electric lights
Distantly call, destroy the spark

The lead ceiling looms, in crowded tombs
Beg for a friend, beg for release
Just choking your life, twisted midwife
Reveals the end, revels in peace.

You can see the outside, more time to bide
Wait 'til he says, wait for a sign
The deadening air, electric chair
Rotting for days, release is mine

---
Written during my GCSEs, when I was sick of waiting for the end of a hour and a half exam for a question needing about ten minutes. I love this one. Sort of sung to a clapped tune that, unintentionally, is reminiscent of One More Red Nightmare.
---

Lady of the Waves

Lady of the waves, rising from the sea
My lady of the waves, turn your eyes to me.
Never let the cloud return again to this bright heart,
Never let the shroud of a widow hide your face,
Never let the moon over England see us part,
Never let the tune of soft sobbing take your grace.

Lady of the waves, I hear tapping feet
My lady of the waves, your rhythm so complete
Always let the words of Sinatra show the way
Always let the birds in the morning sing above
Always let the skies shelter, loneliness decay
Always let the eyes of my lady tell our love

---

Obvious Aphrodite reference, was a love poem.

---

I'll throw in a few more when I can find them.
Edit: let me know what you think.

Here's two I wrote this morning:

Night:

Ra now rises, Ra soon sinks
He'll crash like a wave from above
Ra dips down bellow the earth
Fragments caught in the Surf

Something screams in the wake of night
Smiles perk on empty souls
Deep eerie sounds, Weightless pounds
Ra dips down where the lake ends away
And I drift away (It's chilling here)

Sweat in the sheets, shake in wool
Ran inside, Ran inside
Something Screams in the Wake of Night
Somethings Dead beneath tonight
Under piles of leaves

Wives and Children Blend to One
Broken Chimes Where Silence' Sung
Relay to me your love of life, sweet child
Let me blend into the wake
And drift Away (It's perfect here)

Wings soar, Bring on the Rain
You Write it Down, Heavens Well
(The Devils in the Details)
I will rip out the sun
And rattle in the leaves
I wake

"Praise unto thee, O Ra, thou exalted power, who dost enter into the habitations of Ament, behold thy body is Atum"
__________________________________________________________

Insert fitting title, coz I can't think of one yet:

The sound of sampled waves coming through the speakers
Here's a grunge lucidity
People dropping ropes
With people dangling beneath
On the bridge are streets of cars
For nothing more than static to play through
The hammers smashing windows
And the glass piles on the ground

Hush little darling, don't say a word
Think of what you say before you speak
Sometimes firm shoulders can save the entire world
But it all depends on what lies beneath

Splashes in the water and we watch people show on the shore
I never knew a voice I'd heard so many times before
Could change in a single word
Scream like static as another one falls overboard
I try to write a song but I can't find the right chord

Hush little darling don't say a word
I can't bear to hear you change
Sometimes it's better to stop the entire world
But I can't decide if it's loved or deranged

Our windows smashed open, the glass flies and cuts my eye
The time rolls on and underneath my shoulder you scream and cry
The sound of sampled waves coming through the speakers
Please stop the riot

I translated some of my unfinished poems with an online translator. Not only did it leave some of the words untranslated (I had to translate them myself), but it also turned the fragments into one big prose poem:

A Silent Scream into the Endless Night from the Studdering Mouth of a Logical Mystic

Dating readable spectrum nights we watched picture nights maybe watched dreams. That eyewitness what if eyewitness. Forever are fact as long as those is separate retain from possible truths. No its need be enduring as long as even for a moment were still, to melted entrust faring attain a hold. How arduous cave waive whence ever, only not very butter shall own. Is to separate undignified from valuable, is visible vital outside. That can, that dare watch? From several guides constituent the most mindless ones. Merely those satan know. I tried to compress awe together word. For a moment I didn't butter parry, prize at off course. Bed avalanche upon like millstone at springtime. Moss blanket grill. Ear falter response bulb vernacular breathing heart stony below. Am tired battling. Protected stone no axe erect, not fit from mouth magnitude utterance. Truth's turret no trim. Alone can't manage puff. Beaver outlet swiftly flow wigs domesticated independent stream. Magnitude masts squirrel watch. Rifle twig merely. Tonight we burn municipal ascended to a mountain sight leach bass and flame extinguish we build homeland to a clean substratum. Wouldn't we nevertheless cry extremely liberty ahead? Bathroom ceiling falls bury cockroach below. My bucket is aperture berries to drip. Mountain dwarves' palace stinks strong sweat prince's throne blanket dripping the most beautiful gem tend rude embody. Hence lit quest flare? Compare chill kernel. Chill kernel, shabby arbitrator. Roam on the street exclusive plastic bag shopping in hand. What moment may thoughtful. What really I thought can't consider. I thought mend lolly to a game machine. I'm not big on sharing my writing, but here's one I dreamed up the other day:

Staggering depth: Walls: A stone pen
    Enclosure, isolation; fathomless alien
Never deeds undone too readily judged
The lid of said pen starless
Darkness: be it Shadow? be it Light?
Ties tight, deep, old, beset, in memory
Peace: silence by earth enclosed
Peace: Darkness be Light and Naught
Beauty, ties, lust: all surpassed: peace
    Peace: peace: peace: Peace: peace
Never the day: rotation forgot
    Light shunned; sun embraced
All glory, all love, all afore:
All slain by hand of the pure
Peace: peace: peace: Peace
    Again all glory aligned: peace
