I'd like to say a big THANK YOU and wish a WHOLE LOTTA LOVE to everyone who posted on Gentle and Giant's "Where is Psychedelic Paul" thread while I was OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY from here. It was a real HEARTBREAKER reading of how the good members of ProgArchives were left feeling DAZED AND CONFUSED by the COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN caused by my sudden disappearance, which was NOBODY's FAULT BUT MINE. We've all had GOOD TIMES, BAD TIMES, especially just lately, during this BLACK DOG economic Depression we're all currently going through, which can sometimes leave us feeling TRAMPLED UNDER FOOT by our own governments. I hope you're all doing okay. Returning here to be back amongst my proggy friends again was a real CELEBRATION DAY for me and I've already ascended the STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN again after finding another four great prog albums to review since my return. It's been TEN YEARS GONE since I first discovered ProgArchives, but when it comes to the soul of ROCK AND ROLL, THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME through the passing of the generations. THAT'S THE WAY of classic Progressive Rock, which always sounds fresh and original, no matter HOW MANY MORE TIMES you hear it. Take the rip-roaring Hard Rock of Led Zeppelin for instance - their particular brand of stomping Heavy Prog is as solid and unyielding as ACHILLES' LAST STAND. Prog's timeless appeal is WHAT IS AND WHAT SHOULD NEVER BE lost with NO QUARTER given to the ephemeral wannabe rappers and hip-hoppers of today. Anyway, sorry to RAMBLE ON. It's getting late IN THE EVENING here IN THE LIGHT of a penumbra Moon, so I'm going to don my 1970's KASHMIR coat now and listen to some more classic British Prog. ALL MY LOVE to my proggy friends here in the British Isles and OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY across THE OCEAN.

Thanks Chris! It's good to be back. It might be time for a Top 5 Led Zeppelin Songs poll, even though it's a foregone conclusion that "Stairway To Heaven" will win the poll.

What kind of guitar is that Paul? Looks like a Strat copy?

Yes, it's a Chester Strat copy, bought from Oxfam for just £30 in January last year. I just need to learn to play it now.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, not sure it would even make it into my top 10 Zep tracks. Welcome back btw.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I might put together a Top 5 Led Zeppelin songs poll to see whether "Stairway To Heaven" tops the poll or whether it sinks like a proverbial lead balloon. It might take me awhile to organise though, as I haven't decided what my Top 5 Led Zep songs are going to be just yet.

I've been reading "Led Zeppelin: Hammer of the Gods". In the book it says that when John Bonham discovered he'd been rated below Karen Carpenter in a Playboy magazine Best Drummers poll, he promptly went berserk and threw a television set out of a hotel room window, although Bonzo never needed much of an excuse to go on a drunken wrecking spree.

If it appears that I'm leaning slightly to one side in my photo at the top of the page, that's because I'm trying hard not to fall off the 4-inch heels of my platform gold boots, whilst trying (and failing) to look casual at the same time.

The DVD is absolutely fantastic. The vintage set from 1972 show LZ as they were reaching the heights of fame, and the character and energy they give is inspiring. The sets from ‘74 and ‘75 show LZ at their peak and bring back memories of when I saw them on the Physical Graffiti tour. The band was stellar and the crowd was terrifying. The ‘79 set is a bit weaker but still memorable. This is essential material for any rock video collection.
