Buying Prog CDs at Stores

I've found myself completely frustrated over the lack of selection for Progressive Rock CDs, especially the fact that there doesn't seem to be a section just for Progressive Rock.

So far I'm trying to find CDs by Glass Hammer and the Flower Kings, but have not found them to any avail. Where do you usually buy CDs?

I now very rarely use record stores, except 'Moores' in Stevenage, where I live - this is a small independant store, which somehow keeps going, despite the fact that it commits the heinous crime of stocking little or no chart material.

Generally, I now use Amazon.com, 101CD.com or even E-Bay (quite a good resource for cheap CD's) - at least there, you are almost guaranteed to get the CD you want for a reasonable price - especially now as Amazon are providing a forum to sell 2nd hand CDs through them.

Still, doesn't compare with the old thrill of leafing through hundreds of vinyl albums at the record fairs of my youth, and finding the ultra rare Hendrix import for 50p in mint condition.

There aren't any shops near me that stock much prog although they do have some of the more mainstream prog like Yes. I usually buy my CD's off the internet, through sites like Amazon.com.

I wish shops would sell more Prog but i guess it just isn't profitable at the moment.

I buy my albums on eBay, most of them...some from Amazon...and sometimes I go to a big music-store in Frankfurt (World of Music)...they have some stuff but not really much, but I found Flower Kings, Gentle Giant, Yes and all the 'big' and 'famous' ones...

We had a prog/metal store here in Montréal but it recently went under. If you're ever in Montreal check out Beatnick Records on Rue St.Denis. Tons of vinyl and collectors stuff even a section devoted specifically to Prog CD's and vinyl! The owner knows his stuff and is a former local musician. I Don't know about DT, I have yet to find a copy of any of their CD's... anywhere!

The fact that there is only one good music store in our little redneck town (Zellers), which stocks almost no good cds is the main catalyst that tempts me to download music via the internet. Man I hate being in the middle of nowhere.

I live in this obscure little town(Who's name isn't worth mentioning), about half an hour from a decent sized city(which is still too obscure to name, but if you have heard of Guelph, you are on the right road), which is about two hours northwest of Toronto.

And I'm all for sharing burned CD's, if it is the only way prog can spread

In Montreal we are quite lucky we have a little store that specilises in Prog and Prog / Metal . They have a great selection and if they don't have it they will order it for you. (they can order about any prog band you can think of unless its discontinued)
