I'm sure I did this poll a while back, but can't find it and the albums have changed since, so what is your favourite album from this list. The albums were the highest rated on PA for their respective subgenres.

Tons of great albums here but I'd have to go for "Crime Of The Century". Possibly my 2nd favourite album, just behind Trespass. Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Caravan, and Jethro Tull are also up there.

As always, thanks for any feedback!! Smile

Close to the Edge, definitely my 2nd favorite album behind Sgt. Pepper. Crimson, Floyd, Supertramp, & Rush are all honorable mentions. have heard Thick as a Brick again yesterday and i thought it was pretty good. For me, i listen to an album LOTS of times, though very separately apart (i don't want to hear it constantly in one go if that makes sense). Im getting there with that one. heard only Parabola and Schism from Tool, though not in a few years.

Wow, that was enormously tough to choose between In the Court of the Crimson King and Close to the Edge...  Both are monumental to me... But had to go with Close to the Edge for my vote...
And I'd like to suggest another entry in this list if I may: Moon safari's Lover's End Pt. III: Skellefteå Serenade.
I absolutely adore this song!

The more I listen, the more utterly amazing it gets.

Of these, I've spun Rubycon by far the most, and for good reason.  I'll give it my vote

Excluding Miles Davis's Kind of Blue - it's not prog, it's straight up jazz, and if he'd never gone electric fusion, that album wouldn't even be here on PA - in order:

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Yes - Close To The Edge
Rush - Moving Pictures
Supertramp - Crime Of The Century
Premiata Forneria Marconi - Per Un Amico
Tangerine Dream - Rubycon
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
Caravan - In The Land Of Grey And Pink

Lots of faves here but as usual for me the top spot is a continuous battle between Yes and Tull. TAAB is higher on my Tull list than CTTE is on my Yes list, so I will give it to Tull.

I suppose I will go with the flock on this occasion in favour of Close to the Edge, but in case all votes for Yes are used out, I would go for the PFM

Close to the Edge by a mile. For me, at least, it is as close to perfection as a Prog album could hope to be.

I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.
