It puzzles me why "Home" (Procol Harum's 4th album) is higher rated than their 3rd "A Salty Dog" on PA. In my opinion, "Salty Dog" is one of the greatest early prog albums, and "Home" is much less progressive, adventurous, and less musically intriguing for me (although still pretty good). So I just thought I'd do this poll to get some feedback about why this might be (i.e. why you like it so much) and if there's anyone who has the same opinions as me.

As always, thanks for any feedback Tongue

The ratings by the way:

A Salty Dog - 3.53
Home - 3.55

A Salty Dog is the most beautiful, but I have the feeling that with Home they were really trying to be more eclectic.
But... seeing the albums as a whole, A Salty Dog is my favorite.
It has the best compositions in general, though "About To Die" from Home is really amazing.

I prefer A Salty Dog by a wide margin

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I used to have A Salty Dog but never fell for it. Turns out I had some douche version on the MFP label which was a compilation...... I do have Home, and it's so far the best I've heard from them. Some really nasty imagery on many songs on Home. Whaling Stories hits the spot, and there's definitely no weak spots. I'll have to look out for some other albums.

Golly gosh, this is tough.
I'll think I'll go Home on this one.

A Salty Dog, as if the other album never existed. Which it didn't.

A Salty Dog has better songs on it, but Home is the more consistent album.
