http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=1463 - PORCUPINE TREE - The Sky Moves Sideways (1995)
Review ( http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=41781 - Permanent link ) by Zitro @ 7:47:46 PM EST, 8/5/2005
4 stars  —   this is an excellent album with one main flaw : It may be too slow which can make it boring at moments. This is Porcupine tree at its most spacey and has the most pink floyd influences.

Heck if an album has boring moments what is it doing with 4 stars? Then again the rest must  be outstanding. This is lazy writing i'm afraid

While I agree with your assessment of lazy writing, at least you can
understand it. Check this thing out and please tell me what the hell it
means:

GENESIS Nursery Cryme
Review (Permanent link) by Braindamage @ 11:19:47 PM EST, 8/5/2005
— The masterpiece from a vivid title work of the contrast of the response
and motion to a symphonic masterpiece of ending with which the story of
the mystery and the fantasy is filled. A graceful melody crosses with violent
instrumental, and the world of unique music. The expression of dramatic is
a fit exactly work. Lyrics are extremely eccentric. It is likely to have become
a dynamic work to surpass the former work.

English is probably not his first language, so he probably writes it in his language, and uses a poor translator.

I have to say I've been very impressed with the reviews of Zitro to date. Have a look for some of the other ones he/she has done.

As Cygnus says, BD is clearly using a translator. While the review you highlight doesn't read well, I though the message came across OK in that one.

It's surprising how many people give an album what appears to be a bad review, but still give it 4 stars in the end!

Too few choices when rating . 1 AND 5 ARE SUPPOSED TO BE USED sparingly . 10 star system would be better

It might have been a 3 1/2 star review with a slight tendency towards 4.

You can tell by my reviews that I prefer Presto to Hold Your FIre (That's the only one I don't really like).

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD.asp?cd_id=8218 - QUEEN* - Flash Gordon* (1980)
Review ( http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=41838 - Permanent link ) by Yeah @ 11:36:36 AM EST, 8/6/2005
1 stars  —   Had to do it on this one. I just gave it a pretty serious listen and I'm going to be peeling cheese off the speakers for weeks. Given that the inclusion of Queen on this site has given rise to no little amount of controversy, I am going to add to it by saying that I think Flash Gordon is the most progressive thing Queen ever did and they didn't do it very well. Whatever they were going for, they didn't get it.

I gotta agree, but he should've explained why they didnt get it

It's funny how everyone thinks that only native English speaking people post on the internet.

I do not understand the criticism ... yes, the writing seems to be lazy, because I actually was at the moment. English is not my main language, but I tried to do my best to describe the best I could how the album goes from beginning to end and give my opinions on each track in a moderately lengthed review. I am not a generous reviewer and I rarely give 5 stars. The reason I have given this album 4 starts while saying it is boring on some spots (especially on Moonloop) is because the majority ofthe material is very uplifting and beautiful.

Hey Zitro, apart from that offending sentence you did well. My comments were to highlight two things . One, a general trend of lazy writing and secondly the problem of not having half marks. As you have admitted to being lazy at that time my comment seems accurate and judging by some comments above i feel readers and reviewers would like to see half stars or a point scale.

Apologies for singling you out to make the point, generally you wrote a good review and if English is not your first language then congratulations.
