It's great that this is an international site, but some of these album reviews are written in incredibly poor english.  Some are just terrible (hilarious to though).  It reminds me of when I took German in college and used a cheap translating program to translate english sentances into German ones--it never, ever worked.  Come on guys! These reviews are helping no one.

I don't mean to single this guy out, there are many others.

"Doom Dark Gothic Acoustic-Death Ambient Prog Metal! It does other it is able to be this proposal? Best the voice of Ann-Mari Edvarsen that drags excellently the listener in the world that the 6 write. But it succeeds not to go out you live it because less than to is not enchanted some genre it becomes sleeping pill. But "Did You", "Sophisticated Vampires" or "Sleep" are excellent songs. The 3/5 I give it because I have begun the listening at least 200 times but alone 3 or 5 times I ended the listening of this CD."

Before you get too critical you might want to check your own spelling.

I'm pretty sure we've had this thread recently. Anyway, check out braindamage's recent review of Drama - it's great.

Haha I read both these two earlier and almost posted them in that (now dead) 'Funniest Reviews' Thread.

"Hahaha! He's not very adept at writing in a foreign language! Hahaha!"

Sorry, I think these threads are in very poor taste.

Yes it is in poor taste but:

It is produce an exact, well-made progressive¥rock album. The methodology to which the thickness and the depth are put out by unisons of two or more musical instruments developed with the element and the following ASIA that starts becoming YES causes vocal etc. and the gap of Horn without Ka like Anderson, and the heard part is abundant in the album of ASIA. It is likely to be enumerated in the tune with the strongest the sense though "Into the Lens" etc. are the masterpieces.

HA HA HA.

A few years ago I bought a BB gun and it had the funniest instructions EVER. 'PULL BACK SPEING WITH FINGER. SHOVE IN CARTRIDGE. PULL BACK BILLIARD GODOWN UNTIL 'KA CA'. THEN TO HOID TRIGGER IT IS CAN SHOOT.

Oh God. Me and my dad were in fits of laughter for weeks.

You have a point Trouserpress, but someone in the other thread said that some of these reviews were produced by translation software (I suspect braindamage's are), so we're actually laughing at the software, not at the people.

And who the hell is Ka?

I try to be as fair as possible about these type of reviews. The guys are obviously trying to observe the site rules by writing in English. It appears though that they are writing in their native language, then using a translation tool to convert them to English.

The problem with the translation tools is that they can be too literal, and don't get the feel of what is being said.

If the word make reasonable sense, I leave the review, otherwise it is deleted. I think we should try to bear with them as far as possible, and not make them feel totally excluded simply because of language barriers. There are limits though, there's no point in leaving something on the site which is just gibberish.

I've written to to those concerned explaining.

At least they try, and manage to convey a sense of what they feel about the music - I feel that most of these are quite poetic.

This one is a mock-up of a translated review:

RUSH Feedback (EP)
Review ( http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=31821 - Permanent link ) by Rooibos @ 4:48:05 PM EST, 10/10/2004

2 stars  —  Dees album being faut the makers of lists only. The sounds usually created by instrumentation is of mean worth. An unanointed user of the organ of hearing will not like much this opus.It is not like the Cream or Yardbirds in similarity only.I can the two points of the light give it.

No translation tool would translate star as "point of light! nor ears as "the organ of hearing"

It is "not  like"......in similarity only....c'mon!!!!!!!

Besides "Rooibos" was/is my brother!

Good god, i find it hard to speak English at the best of times, but at least our foreign colleagues do try. How often do the British go abroad and expect everyone to speak English? Yet when they come to our shores most speak better English than we do, give em a break, and if iti s crap software then tough, plod on and read the reviews, there are plenty of interesting points in there.
